Food Lion — Local services in Washington

I'm going to leave it a 4 only because I've become familiar with the place and I know humans are fallible and sometimes make careless mistakes. As of the time of this review though, we have just gone through enough medical crises that I wasn't in the mood for another. To my absolute surprise, an associate didn't quite feel the same.

While stocking shelves with great care, this young lady proceeds to sniffle, cough, and sneeze on the jars of jalapeños I was eyeing on the shelf. Didn't even try to use the elbow. She did this for a solid minute while I stood behind her. I obviously opted out of the recently infected product and went to ring up the rest of my cart.

I know all the stuff in the store is covered in ick. That's why we wash our hands after going out. It's not about the germs, it's about watching someone get their ick on the product in your face and they work with it throughout the day, daily. She was clearly sick and I understand the struggle to work even on our bad days. Sick days don't pay the bills when you don't have benefits. But there was like zero finesse with that scene. Nada.

Friendly associates, willing to help find products or help carry your groceries to the checkout if you forgot to grab a cart and have your hands full. They had the muffins that I can only get at Food Lion's bakery and the ice cream I love if I don't make it to Walmart before 8:30pm. They stay open till 11pm, which is a big plus for people who aren't on a regular daytime schedule. Wish they could totally redo this store to look like the one in the middle of town. I hate the layout of it because the freezer sections are on opposite sides of store, which makes little to no sense. For example, ice cream, milk & OJ is on the far left and frozen meals/pizza are on the right. It's inconvenient & by the time you get to to the ice cream, your frozen veggies or pizza or whatever you get from the right side freezers are thawed out. When you have to drive 30 min or more to get home, your stuff is even...

I was pleasantly surprised buy this young man. He was a chart boy, I watched him in the store while I was checking out, he was so pleasant, speaking to everyone with a smile. Very mannerly! When I was finished and out at my truck he came to me and got my cart. He spoke with me briefly about fishing, it was yes Sir no Sir. When I say he made my day, he really gave me a bit of hope for this new generation. He told me his name but I'm not that great with names, I remember the first name ended in RETT because it was on his name tag. He said his last name was Harris. I hope his parents are...
