I've had several projects completed by Frame of Mine, and I couldn't recommend them more! My first visit they put me on the listserv and told me to come back in a few weeks, when they were having a sale; ever since I've made a point to go when they have sales, as custom framing is a luxury for me. My first experience with Frame of Mine they completed a set of three prints I'd bought online. At the recommendation of Cissy, I went with a bold orange frame and beige mat, which folks always complement. Of course, I have to share the print source, but I credit Frame of Mine for being the centerpiece they are, as they really make the room. The most recent project they completed for me was to restore an etching that was my grandfather's. Years of acidic paper and mold had done a number on the piece, so I thought for sure much of the piece would need to be cut down. Thankfully, Frame of Mine contracted with a National Gallery of Art conservator who did a remarkable job for a reasonable sum. They were very communicative with their timelines, and even though I told them I didn't need it before Christmas, it was ready and made for a very welcome addition to my home just in time for the holiday. Several employees helped me pick the frame and mat, as what I'd decided on initially didn't quite work once the piece had been cleaned. Of course, it looks great in the space, and I was glad I trusted their instincts. Again, I can't recommend Frame of Mine highly enough. My continued patronage and referrals to friends and neighbors are my [selfish?] way of ensuring a great Capitol Hill business will be around for many more...
Read moreWe have used the services of Frame of Mine for years, when we lived on Capital Hill and even since we have moved to another part of Washington with framing shops much nearer by. A lot we have done were oddities we picked up on foreign trips. During all that time, we have enjoyed the feeling that when we walk in their door, we are the only customers that matter. We always get undivided, creative and professional attention. The results hang on our walls, still handsome and fresh after all those years. It is nice to have good friends who are also...
Read moreI bought my first condo and my dad came out from Colorado to "help," and in the process he ripped out the wire on an original oil painting his parents have had since the 60's. The ripped wire damaged the frame (to which we were all very attached) and they were able to fix up the wire and, most importantly, save the custom frame. The work was completed quickly, well below the cost I'd assumed, and they were able to save the frame. Am very pleased to hang a painting in my new living room just as it had hung back in my grandfather's study in...
