Lovely courts which are free to play and around a buzz - running track, baseball pitch, swimming pool with music, and Howard University.
Howard University tennis coaches are lovely too.
Hilarious that another review said "very open with no shade"...
...erm, that is what tennis courts are!
If you want something less open and with more shade, I'd try the library, or a basement!
These courts are free to play on, but because they are, there are first come first serve rules, and often you have to wait at peak times.
So if there is a queue, you'd have to wait for the people to play one hour (maximum) and then they come off.
Right next to an outdoor swimming pool with music and sunbathing.
Also next to Howard University etc. which means there is always a buzz - much better than these stuffy, cut off, and isolated tennis clubs.
A much better atmosphere, and a much nicer place to play.

The down side is that they are crowded in the warmer months and you often have to wait a while to play and then only get an hour on court if there are people waiting.
