It is not uncommon for the business of the holidays to distract you while shopping. In fact, many losses occur during the shopping season of major holidays including lost packages, lost items, personal belongings and even finances. Unfortunately, I became one of these victims in a Walmart store in Watchung NJ. I purchased some items at a self-service station. I asked for cash back. In most stores, the system would prompt you to receive cash below or have a lighted area in which you receive your cash. This was not the case with these machines. I walked out of the store without the cash I requested. By the time I realized I forgot it, I called the store before making a u turn. I was told to go to the machines customer service to see if anyone has handed it in. No one did. One part of me felt nervous, but I knew there were cameras around the area that zoomed in on your every move. They are put there for our security and safety to prevent theft of property. Cameras are installed so that what is not ours, stays put in its place until purchased. Or are they? When I returned to the store, I went to the area of which I purchased the items. No one turned it in. But there are cameras for this right? Someone is going to see what happened and catch this person and he will give an account for this open store theft, right? This is a major business with cameras to prevent this sort of thing, right? Not so. I was asked to go to the back room with the register number to have them look at the camera and see who took the money. They found that a customer took the money and there was nothing they could do about it. I had to talk to the cops and create a police report. Now, there just happened to be cops in the store and I caught one who came in the door. He told me that he would go and see the camera and see if the person used a CC to purchase the item. They would then go and get him and ask him to surrender the money. But when I did the police report, they told me they didn’t do any of that, but that they just wrote it out and no investigation as to who this person was took place. Now, they got this guy on camera stealing from a customer, and they didn’t do anything to catch this guy? All I was told, was that there was a copy of the report that I could pick up. But how is that solving the issue? How is the customer feeling safe? How do you make the thief stop stealing from a register in front of the store cameras? Now, I am partially responsible for this because I left it behind, but why then are there cameras? To protect my stuff, or the stores stuff? who is the criminal? The one who left it, or the one who stole it? I left it, but does that mean someone has a right to steal it? You don’t steal unless you have it in your heart to do so. The store didn’t lose any goods, BUT THEY ARE ABOUT TO LOSE A CUSTOMER, AND GAIN THE CONFIDENCE OF LOCAL THIEVES. If you walk in a store and customers are stealing from customers, is that a safe place to shop? If you leave a package at the counter and come back, and another customer stole it, is that a safe place to shop? If a theft is in a store, then people should know about that. They should know if there is a potential in that place to have items stolen from them. So my question is, what is Watchung, NJ Walmart doing to ensure the safety of their customers? What are they doing to stop future thieves from stealing from their registers? What is the local police doing in conjunction to help during the busy holiday season? How can customers feel safe even if they happen to leave something behind? How can the store cameras help customers as well as the store items? I hope the answer is better than what I got from the store and the authorities in the area. I hope other customers don’t have to get things stolen from them this holiday season. I'm apprehensive about going back. In the end, it’s the customer and that store that...
Read moreIf I could provide a negative rating I would, minutes ago I was in the Watchung Wal-Mart.
I found or so I thought a office car for a great price of $37.24 since the box was on the bottom shelf I request help and the assistant manager Oscar provided me assistance. During this process I talked about how excited I was to get the last chair for $37.24 to Oscar. He informed me that if I needed help at checkout they could call someone to help me.
About 10 minutes later at checkout Adrienne was admiring the chair and I said your too late this is the last one and its #37.24 and we laughed. When she rung up my items the cost came to $139 I informed her to call Oscar because he assisted me. She proceeded, then Latanya came over and said Oscar was getting ready to leave for the day as he was suppose to leave at 5pm and its about 6:15pm at this point. I said ok but can he come to confirm the price or should I meet him at the location. She seemed to get frustrated when I continued to ask the whereabouts of Oscar and she then replied its a $100 difference and she can't honor it. I said the chair even has a display over the slot where the location was put, she said Oscar said he didnt tell me a price and he was going to clock out. He never came to the front of the store, so I started to walk the the location of where I got the chair and the other AM Susan was looking at the spot. She said she can't honor it bc Oscar didn't and their on the same level. She then went on the give me a tutorial of how Wal-M sets up merchandising and put price tags to the left of the merchandise. So I responded where is the price tag for this item? She responded "Oh its not put up". So I'm assuming I can't trust your displays or the price tags that are out for items.
She was the highest level manager at this point and pretty much said I can call the 1-800# as a brush off at this point.
I'm so disappointed in the lack of customer experience by the managers at Wal-mart tonight. I frequently visit this location although I have heard many horror stories that hasn't been my case. I guess bc I never had a issue up until this point. I did call the 1800 and all they did was document the poor service I received. However that still doesn't resolve my issue of not having a office chair because the store is poorly merchandised and the managers couldn't care either. Talk about false advertising at its best.
Take at look at the display and the product that I took...
Read moreI have been utilizing Walmart Photo for years. Throughout those years I have had several hiccups with the photo department. My most recent experience dates back to last week. I order a one hour photo book online. I went to the store to pick it up about five days later (to give Walmart some extra time- because, I know by now, it would never be ready in one hour.) As I check with the clerk, I am informed that my order must not have been processed because it's not showing up in the system. Come to find out, the order had been delayed. It was now my responsibility to call Walmart customer service to get a refund for the prepaid item - then, afterwards recreate the photo book that I spent hours making. Of course, I made the phone call and recreated the photo book. This time, I sent it to another location - thinking that this would solve the problem. It did not solve the problem. I ordered the photo book again on Wednesday. I visited the store on Friday to give them some added time, as aforementioned. I saw the cover to my photo book laying in the photo department without its pages inserted. The clerk informed me they were low on ink so once they receive it, my photo book would be done probably the next day. I returned on this week's Monday and the photo book was in the same position with no progress. This means I will have to contact Walmart Customer Service and get a refund again. This is absolutely unacceptable. In turn, it effects my clientele, as I am a full-time photographer that utilizes Walmart as a photo vendor. This is just two instances out of the many bad ones that I have had with the photo department throughout my time as a customer. Regardless of which location I visit, they all seem to have only one person that knows how to navigate throughout the photo department --- if that person is not there (which they are often not) no progress is made. I have even had managers that have told me that they do not know how to operate the photo department. That is horrible - and a waste of customer's time. Walmart, I think it's time for some detailed attention on...
