Waterbury Aldi's on Chase Ave.
Aldi's is a great place to shop for groceries when you are conscientious about saving money, consistently, because Aldi's products are much less expensive than other grocery stores chains... and that's just in general! You don't have to be lured in with weekly sales, special discounts, or store coupons in order to save. And several of the name brands that Aldi's carries (such as: Simply Nature, Never Any, and Whole & Simple) are all not only delicious, but (for those of you, like myself, who are active label readers) are also healthy, and don't contain all kinds of "junk" ingredients, and sweeteners!! . . . For those reasons, I actually give the Aldi's chain a HUGE THUMBS UP (probably even 4 or 5 stars!! . . . see my other Aldi's ratings). But my reason for giving THIS particular Aldi's store (at the intersections of Chase Ave. and N. Main St. in Waterbury, CT) only 2 stars is, primarily, because IT'S FILTHY!!!!!!! Especially the floors! But also. . . many times, I have found that the produce there is either moldy, mushy, or rotting, and just left there. . . in with all the good stuff! And a third reason (especially since the Pandemic) is that many spots on the shelves are often not restocked (even though there are skids of unopened boxes in back or even in the aisles at times). Of course, that was understandable during the Pandemic, but now, it's no longer a valid excuse. By far, though, the filthy condition of this particular store is my biggest complaint. . . and although this location is closest to where I live, I choose to go to the Bristol location, instead.
Corporate definitely needs to do a "surprise inspection" on this location. 👎😝
Don't give up on Aldi's, though! Just go to the one on Reidsville Dr. in Waterbury or the one on Mountain Rd. & Middle St. in Bristol. 🍎🙂👌...
Read moreWith the closing of Shoprite recently, and my frustration levels high with Stop&Shop's extreme prices, horrible customer service, lack of availability of sale items, and less than fresh produce, I decided it was time to give this Aldi a try. Having only been inside the store once months ago, I decided to check out the flyer online first before going so I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed. Found some great prices, drove to the store, and I'm thrilled to tell you that this place is amazing. Not everything is less expensive than the bigger grocery stores, and they don't have a huge assortment of things, but overall, I got some fantastic deals on every day staples, like butter, eggs, and FRESH produce. I'm actually sorry that I didn't shop here sooner, but I'm happy that I can finally kiss S&S goodbye. and say, "Hello, Aldi!". If you like to save money, check out Aldi: great stuff at much more...
Read moreI love Aldi... usually. I do 95% of my grocery shopping at Aldi but lately I have been very disappointed with the lack of stock of the items I normally buy and the drastic increase in prices. I know we are having a global shortage of pretty much everything but where does it end? When this shortage is resolved, will the increase of prices be amended to represent the decrease in costs to deliver them? The lower prices at Aldi was the driving factor to make me shop there but now it's almost on par with everyone else. I don't see any company reducing their prices because their costs dropped but I hope Aldi will stand out from the rest and not just try to increase profits with it. Now that costs are decreasing, I'm hoping to see the same happen to prices. If and when it does, I will increase my star rating of you to 5. Thank you...
