This year has not been my year as I started it out with a severe infection in my jaws causing me to lose all my teeth, had surgery on them then 6wks of daily antibiotics. Then just after finishing up with that July 4th while fishing I tripped fell on my face then I decided it would be fun to somersault backwards down a steep rocky hill when I don't remember how I ended up on the bottom of the hill. Ended up with a double concussion and 3 broken ribs and Post Concussive syndrome. THEN if that wasn't enough about 6 wks or so when I was pretty much recovered though still sore... My 95 lbs dog running all out clipped me on the left side of my knee and spun off my feet and facing the opposite direction of where I was going. Received a Displaced Tibial Plateau Fracture which according to my research and to my dismay is not only an uncommon SERIOUS fracture but because I had to have surgery I'm looking at a recovery time of at least 4-6 months maybe a year!!!!!!!!!!!!! πππ₯Ίπ
Why am I telling you this Dear Reader of my comments??? It's definitely not for sympathy because I have God on my side and He's been trying to guide my thick-head towards my future but I haven't been listening so I have to now LoL π. I'm a Type A personality which made it difficult adjusting to becoming disabled but now I'm trying to figure out the whole non-weight bearing thing and still be able to be with my beloved horses.
Enter the ANGELS at the Good News Project in Wausau, Wisconsin β£οΈβ£οΈβ£οΈ (See I told you God was on my side πππ) I was able to rent a wheelchair, walker, and a nifty shower chair that helps me get in and out of the tub so I can shower. They have all KINDS of medical equipment that a person can rent for a small donation and you can keep it for 6 months at a time plus you can renew your contract if you need it longer (lucky me right? LoL π Come on that's funny right?). The biggest thing is they are VOLUNTEERS plus equipment is donated!!! When I called, the woman was VERY nice, helpful and she's the one who suggested the shower chair because of my leg.
So if you have medical equipment like walkers, canes, hospital beds, electric wheelchairs, hospital bed tables, lifts, any other medical equipment or office supplies and equipment; donate them, because you are paying it forward to people who are sick or hurt and are in need of such things. You can feel good knowing you will be helping someone plus you're giving new life to the equipment that otherwise may have ended up in the landfills. OH, and Don't FORGET!!! If you have some time on your hands, go and volunteer!!! I'm SURE they will be Grateful for your help πππ...
Β Β Β Read moreThis charity, the brainchild of Chuck & Peggy MacCarthy, centers around helping the people of St. Lucia, in the Caribbean. Periodically groups of volunteers travel to the Caribbean to serve the people there, especially building little homes for families who used to live in shacks. The major fund raising event is a service that recycles electronics. They also have an annual dinner to raise more funds; the event includes a silent auction and entertainment on a Saturday evening in September. Really nice people who run the organization, serve on the board, and volunteer in many ways. They are doing Christ's work in a...
