After a few weeks of physical therapy late last year and a PT charge to continue the exercise regimen at home, my wife was always telling me... "we do those exercises in my Pilates class all the time! You should try it! Take an intro class, then you can come with me!"
Immediately upon completion of the 'Free Intro Class', that I procrastinated over for weeks... I was sold! I joined immediately and attend at least three classes per week, and love it! I feel great each time I leave class, and I always learn something new about excercise and body movement/control/balance.
I've always enjoyed resistance training, both gym and home, and will admit I was a bit skeptical about whether I would find Pilates 'physically challenging or satisfying'. My skepticism was totally misplaced! And I'm gently reminded of that fact on average of three times per week now!!! :-) Maybe it's a Suspend or Reformer Flow class with Mary Rose... maybe it's Cardio Sculpt or Control class with Kimberly S. but they're all challenging in different ways.
All the instructors are great! All are unique in their own way to help you learn the proper techniques and safely execute the CP excercises to fit your individual goals and capabilities. Instructors Liz, Meagan, Mirela, and Nicolette have all also helped me to learn the CP system, and respect it! The staff is always helpful and supportive.. thank you Liv, Bailey, Keri, and Ceil!
Many thanks to you all! And many thanks to Yuri and Art for bringing such a great opportunity to Waxhaw!
Now we need a few more brave guys to come learn what a real...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI joined Club Pilates because I barely had enough strength to climb stairs or even get up off the floor. I am nearing my 50th class. After a few months of attending the 50 minute level 1 sessions, just 2-3 days per week, I gently gained an enormous amount of strength back.
All parts of my body have stretched and strengthened through gentle workouts. During these sessions, there was no pain, never out of breath, and rarely broke a sweat. I was able to work at my own pace. If a movement was too difficult, it was okay to modify the movement to what was comfortable for me.
I enjoy sharing these sessions with a small group of other folks. It's more than exercise. The time is relaxing. It is a time that I get to spend focusing on me and be in tune with myself. I look forward to stepping up to the next level shortly.
There are men who participate in these sessions. My fiance also joined. After suffering injuries from a car accident and hip replacements, he too is reaping the benefits of strengthening and becoming stronger.
No need to fear of being "watched" because everyone is too much in tune with listening to the instructor and working on your movements.
All of the CP staff members are so friendly and supportive. Upon signing up, there is no contract or commitment. I was able to choose and pay for the number of sessions that I wanted to attend per month. I am very pleased with...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePros: ā¢Itās reformer Pilates which is a great workout in itself ā¢There are a couple of great instructors
Cons: ā¢The scheduling conflicts
SUGGESTION: Iād only recommend joining if you get the Unlimited package, or have an open/flexible schedule (like retired).
Here are details based on my personal experience:
MY EXPERIENCE: I have the 8-classes per month membership at $189, and can only book during my current billing cycle ā absolutely no problem there, or so I thought.
Without Unlimited (which allows you to book 60 days in advance), itās difficult to find classes to fit my schedule. I mean, theyāre all booked up or out of my availability window!
Iāve since ended my membership after 3 months at a whopping 14/24 classes. What a disappointment.
VIEW THEIR WAITLIST: The problems arise when Iād like to book a class and Iām 1st or 2nd, let alone 6th+ in line and cannot get in. It becomes challenging to fit workouts in my schedule and plan accordingly.
TLDR; the scheduling uncertainty isnāt for me but it might be a great fit for you!!
Hope...
