We are fans of East Coast Wings and have visited several locations. We are happy to say, however, that the one closest to our home is the best one yet. We have been to this location several times and have always gotten great service. We are big fans of the food as well, but we want to express yet another side of things at this location.
All of the owners we've met (Vinod, Bupesh and Aravind - apologies for any misspelled names), are a class act. A few weeks ago, we had a lot of family in town to celebrate a 50th birthday and asked Vinod a few weeks in advance if we could reserve part of the restaurant on a Sunday for about 26 people. Not only did he graciously accommodate my request, but also assigned 2 of their best servers. This is another aspect of ECW Waxhaw we had no idea was available until Vinod mentioned that he would be happy to help.
We are NOT an easy crew to please. Moreover, we were on multiple separate checks, with several people on the same check sitting in different spots at different tables, with shared appetizers, etc. The servers kept it all straight without missing a beat.
The service was incredibly prompt and attentive. Not one person in our party got the wrong food items or drinks. Everyone's checks were spot on as well. It really was absolutely incredible how smoothly it all went.
As always, the food was excellent, the beer was cold and all at a reasonable price. The beer selection is amazing, served at the perfect temperature and (again), reasonably priced. They have one of our favorite beers on draft, which, when you can find it on draft elsewhere, is a LOT more expensive and not normally served nearly cold enough for our taste. In addition, ECW Waxhaw offers it in both 16 and 22 oz sizes, which we've never found anywhere else. We are intentionally not saying which one it is...we would hate for them to run out!
Thanks again to Vinod and his team! If you want to get some great wings and great service and/or plan a group lunch/dinner/event, THIS is the...
Read moreFirst, it is important to know that I am somewhat of a wing connoisseur. If I was on death row, I would order wings as my last meal. I like the traditional sauce the best and I like it hot - burn-your-lips-off hot. Add a cold microbrewed beer to the equation and, for me, it's nirvana. The only other factor that needs tonbe considered is the quality of the blue cheese - bad blue cheese dressing can wreck the entire wing-eating experience. Understanding this, it is easy to understand that preparing wings correctly is an art form - there are many places in the process where things can go horribly awry. For this reason, I am skeptical when it comes to trying a new wings joint - I have have been jilted in the past. So, it was with great trepidation that I tried East Coast Wings & Grill - would this place stand up to my sophisticated palate, especially as it pertains to wings? I had my doubts, that is for sure. The wings arrived with copious amounts of blue cheese dressing which was a great start. That the dressing was pleading to my taste buds was another step in the right direction and accompanied by plenty of celery and carrot and we were off and running. The flavors that are available are numerous, 50+ to choose from. I chose the Black n Bleu which is spicy Cajun flavors mixed with their signature Bleu Cheese dressing - I was in the mood for something original. The waitress then asked me what heat index I preferred (from virgin to insanity which includes ghost pepper in the seasoning). Since I was sharing them, I opted for the x-hot which turned out to be too hot for the spicy latina (my wife). The first bite was amazing - no, sensational. The mixture of flavors combined with perfectly cooked chicken told a perfect story and put a smile on my face. As far as wings go, East Coast Wings and Grill has some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be eating there again. Oh, in case you were wondering, the Mojitos are out...
Read moreWent to ECW&G for a birthday celebration. The food we had consisted of chili, chicken philly, traditional steak philly, and the patty melt which were very good and thoroughly enjoyed. We also had drinks and a final round of wine to sit out the storm.
The draw back was the service which was absolutely horrendous. Our server was friendly enough but obviously new and struggled with everything. It’s apparent that staff needs more training before being allowed to operate on their own. Our server should have been shadowed by someone more experienced. I’m sure with adequate training she will do a much better job.
The guest who ordered the chili asked to have it served very hot. When it was received it was luke warm. He didn’t send it back as he didn’t want to wait further for his order. One guest asked for a glass of pinot noir. She had no idea what this was and looked at the food menu to find the item. We explained it was wine. Finally, after a wait the glass was delivered. At the end of the meal we all asked for a glass of pinot noir. Our waitress came back with one glass, plopped it on the table and said that’s all there was! We were given a separate bill for the three glasses of wine before it was even delivered?
We had to ask to have the table cleaned multiple times before it was finally cleared. We asked to have the $82 and change bill split between two of us. Our waitress came back and said she couldn’t split it evenly and one of us would have to pay $42 and change and the other would have to pay $40 and change!
Would we go back, probably but after waiting for a period of time hoping the staff will be better trained and prepared to properly serve...
