My college age son and grandson booked a tee time in advance for the west course. My grandson went in advance to register and they gave him a hard time until he came back with his father. My husband went with our college age son in advance too and Bob, in the pro shop, said as a county college student he qualified as a student and if he had a hard time to mention that Bob said it was ok. When they showed up today the workers in the pro shop were extremely condescending and rude. They went as far as to tell them that no one named Bob even works there until another customer commented on something Bob had told him. Then they miraculously remembered Bob. But they still told my son to ‘man up’ and pay the full price. As my son continued to stand his ground they finally relented and made good on Bob’s word but only because a long line was forming. To top it off when they went to go to the west course the same rude worker came over and told them the west course wasn’t open - even though they had booked it in advance.
One would think young people should be encouraged to play the game - but I guess not here. I’m any case - there is no excuse for this kind of rude behavior towards anyone, much less young people wanting to learn and get better at the game.
At least they enjoyed the golf they were allowed to play and everyone else they encountered on the course were friendly (thus the 3 stars). But major personality adjustments are needed by some of the...
Read moreThe Preakness Valley golf course is a golfing highlight and one I proudly recommend, then there's the ridiculous and frustrating operations component which is consistently a burden and let down. Firstly, reserving a tee time as a county resident and longstanding attendant is a thing of the past unless all of your golfing will take place after 2pm. Apparently, golf apps/contractors appear to be primary and secondary considerations and whatevers becomes random and abritrary. The online system from login through tee time selection is a kaleidoscopic, within milisecs a selected day/time/ course will disintegrate. You'll repeat and repeat in upwards of 5, 6 or 8 times. Until you take whatever avaiable 2, 3, 4 pm just to have a time and select the system tee alert (tee cancelations for a select date/time/course) note: the alert condition is only avaiable if you have a tee time for the date in question. What I've describe is a regular occurrence and unresolved program scenario. Finally, staff has been helpful in sorting out issues but the preakness online system is either a bust or administratively manipulated. Give a try and you decide. I've refrained from telling the entirety of my experience yesterday and today but trust had I done so you would probably be...
Read moreGoverment bullying at preakness. Thinking the facility was an EV friendly golf course, plugged my EV while playing golf. After a round of golf, I was bullied by a rude staff member stating that golfers are not allowed to plug in their EV for more than 1 hour and clearly stated the chargers are for the use of county employees. I was also threatened with police towing and impoundment of my vehicle. As a paying golfer and a paying EV user through Charge point, no where was any posting through the Charging app or sign posting at the facility stating the time limit use and designated user. If this is a county ordinance, make sure it is clearly posted either through the charging app or signage. Treating a paying patrons as a law breaking criminal does not promote enrichment of any modern society. SHAME ON YOU PASSAIC COUNTY FOR USING TAX DOLLARS AND PATRONS DOLLARS TO ENRICH ONLY IT'S STAFF MEMBERS AND EMPLOYEES! Please update EV regulations on your website, So that I may update my review of the facility to better the enrichment of the users of...
