I recently had surgery at this hospital and I rate everything from the registration, information station, pre op, or, post op (PACU) and phase II recovery as OUTSTANDING! Everyone was great! I was vulnerable because it was my first time having this type of surgery (my Dr is Dr Ghomi) but because of all the people who took care of me at this hospital and assisted my husband while he waited for me - I was able to be calm and was able to get through the whole ordeal wonderfully. I was even able to go home the same day which again shows how amazing everyone was and in this case especially my surgeon Dr Ghomi, my anesthesiologist Dr Rosales and my OR nurse Lorna. What a great blessing to have found Dr.Ghomi and all the staff at St Joseph’s. I am recovering now at home. My surgery was a success and I look forward and I am excited to be back to normal and live a pain free life! I highly highly recommend this hospital and Dr Ghomi!

If I could give this hospital zero stars I would. Pictures say a 1,000 words.. As a patient in the Emergency Room, how would you feel when they hand you a 'blanket' that looked liked that (see picture attached). Also, out of this 229 bed hospital, they couldn't get 1 pillow in the E.R. to make myself comfortable. The ER Tray stand had a huge smear on it and the floor was dirty. Additionally, information on my medical chart was incorrect (it states I was given 3 medications, when I was not). I've been asking the hospital the same question for over a month now, to no avail. (What was the name of the Observing Doctor). The nurses, however, were wonderful!

The staff that worked with me were nice, but I keep getting letters saying I have an unpaid balance. I don't know why, since I paid for the date they are asking for and I have the receipt for it. They originally charged me $1,657, which I paid. Now, MONTHS later they are charging me for $332.89. The letters they send don't say what the bill is for. I have called SIX times to ask about this bill. The first three times it went to a machine that hung up on me after I answered all of its questions. The last three times they said the office was closed and to call during normal business hours even though I called at 3PM and they supposedly close at 5PM.

On Tuesday January 21st at 3:00pm, I took my mom to the Emergency room after finding out my mother has a DVT. After Mom was triaged, she had to wait in the Emergency room in a wheelchair for 3 hours, with the DVT. After the long 3 hours, we were brought over to a room in the ER. I explained to the nurse that was assigned to my Mom, that my mother has Dementia, trouble walking and also has a Dvt, we found this out by the xray she got done at her home earlier that day. After explaining all this, my mother stayed in the Room, no one came to the room to help me get her in Bed. She stayed in that wheel chair for 3 More hours. While sitting in the wheel chair, the ER personnel did her blood work, her EKG (They wouldn't even get a good reading because she was not laying down and Kept moving). I don't know how long after, but someone finally came to get her to a ultrasound for her leg, my daughter was with my mother at that time, and she was with her during the ultrasound. She stated that she struggled to get her on the bed, no one even asked her to help nor did they help. I knew my daughter wouldn't be able to handle getting my mom out of the ultrasound table, so i went to help her but no one even asked to help even though they saw us struggle. After my mom returned to her ER room, I helped her get into the bed, because I didn't want her to keep staying in the wheel chair. After a few more hours of waiting, it was the change of shift and the doctor comes over to inform me of the choices I have for the medication. After making the choice, he told me he was going to put the order in for the blood clot. An hour goes by without anyone getting the medication, The nurse Isabella, came over and informed me that the doctor never put the order in for the blood clot medication. She also informed that a bed was ready for my mom but the blood work needed to be repeated. So, Isabella, made three attempts to get blood from my mom. She tried from the line that was already in, and then again from both of my mother's hands. Isabella called over another nurse to try to get blood and that nurse also tried my mom's hands, again unsuccessfully. Charge nurse had to be called over, He got it from the line finally. My mother was not admitted until 1am, and we came in at 3pm. I have never had an issue with this hospital before, I chose this hospital over any other because of all the great experiences I have had. But coming in that day felt like I let my mother down by taking her to that ER when she was having a medical emergency. All the ER personnel other than Nurse Isabella, let my mother and I down. She spent so many hours in a wheel chair with her medical condition and the medical emergency, she should have been seen sooner. It hurt me to see my mother sit in that ER without getting the help she needed, and not knowing who was going to help her. I want to thank Nurse Isabella for the wonderful work she did, she came over and tried to explain things to us as much as possible. She wanted to help more and I felt like she was the only one that cared and I was able to approach with any questions....

This is absolutely the worst ever arrived around 10:00 pm my sister in law went in for lower back pain and down the side of her left leg to the point where she can’t stand , registered and then they took her vitals and then to the waiting room now 2 hours past nothing there is a sign on the wall that literally says patients will be treated depending on their severity which is understandable, but yet they are calling patients who got into a fight and needs treatment for a busted lips that don’t even need stitches & calling in patients who can literally walk in without any pain while my sister in law is in a wheelchair can’t feel her leg or stand up at all she couldn’t even stand up with assistance the amount of pain and numbness in her leg told the nurse several times continuously she just didn’t give any answer no one even came out to check on her pain level three more hours go by finally got in the back room only to wait another 45 mins to see the doctor the only thing this hospital did fast was collecting the insurance card to consent for billing anyways the doctor came spoke to her prescribe her meds etc they needed a urine sample to which my sister in law explained she is unable to move her leg like can’t stand period on it the nurse instead of offering assistance or a bedpan told her that I can’t give meds without the sample and proceeded to walk off I had to go over and suggested a bed pan she walked over to another nurse who was eating Cheetos !!!! And asked for assistance and that nurse give an attitude because my sister in law needed assistance with the bedpan saying rudely that she is going to be in pain regardless why don’t she just go to the bathroom, if the patient is stating that their in severe pain and is unable to stand how can they go to the bathroom if she fell and made her Injury worse like what the heck sorry we needed your help for a job you took and is being paid for I didn’t know the hospital was just paying you to just sit there and stuff your face with junk food instead of helping patient I couldn’t even get her name because she turned her badge around and it’s not just my sister in law she was rude to another patient next door who was complaining of pains this is sad that these nurses has no bedside manners I do have her picture tho will be taking this further and posting hopefully this blows up and she is Dealt with accordingly You don’t like your job then don’t do it find something you like and then find someone to pay you for it because I know that nurses have stressful jobs and they see all different types of people good and bad And sees hundreds of patients within the hours that they work however they have to realize that even though they’re saying 100 patient the patient is only seeing them for the first time. St Joseph in Wayne this location needs better nurses who actually care about people and have better bedside manners the doctors are great and give quick treatments & that’s the only good thing about this hospital...

This hospital is THE WORST. I went to the emergency room at 12pm with chronic headache cause of mastoiditis and slight bells palsy in right side of my face. Took them 5 hours to give me 2 cat scans. The first one wasn't done for 2 and a half hours (takes 1 hour) and the second one wasnt done or read till 24 hours later (after they admitted me after waiting for 7 hours on a chair in the hall). I had to HOUND them for that second cat scan. Nurses are lazy and they get bothered when you call them. I pent 2 days asking for a shower and for steroids to help my face with the bells palsy. 2 days hounding and asking for a shower. Can i shower?? Can i get steroids for my face? Can i talk to the doctor?? For 2 days begging for a shower and treatment for my face and the nurses told me they put in the request supposedly and the doctor has to approve it. Spent another 24 hours asking to see the doctor. 2am comes around i had enough. I told the nurse i seriously need to see n talk to the doctor i havnt spoken to one since you guys admitted me. Comes back after a half hour and told me the doctor said hes coming to see you. It was 2am. I fell asleep waiting for this imaginary doctor to come speak to me. Next morning i asked her dude you said the doctor was coming what happnd? She said he said he was coming i dont know what happened… The nurses leave you there and forget about you. No communication and i have to hound them for my antibiotics like dont forget cause i havnt seen you in like 10 hours so i worry. I felt like i was just dumped in a bed and forgotten. 2 days later i get transfered to another hospital. Still havnt spoken to a doctor or have a reason as to why im being transferred. I get to Paterson hospital st josephs (THAT hospital is GREAT) and only when i get to a pre op room i ask…. Am i here cause im getting surgery? Theyre like yeah you didnt know?? Im like NO!!! No one said anything to me i havnt even spoken to a doctor in days wayne hospital really is the worst… they take forever to do anything simple and they just really dont care. Wayne hospital is a waste of time patience and money dont go here you’ll regret it. I got worse in the 2 days being spent in that hospital cause no doctor came to see me to talk to me and cause i wasnt being treated properly only when ingot switched to Paterson St Josephs hospital did i start feeling better and getting treated properly and like a human. Wayne hospital is a waste...
