Weatherford Whiskers — Local services in Weatherford

On 8-27-25 my wife and I visited Weatherford Whiskers. The older lady at the front was rude and very gruff but we wanted to see the cats. We think her name is Carole. My wife and I were chosen by Gidget. A very sweet little kitty. We filled out the application and we waited. On the application I stated we do have Great Danes and a cat. I’m part of two Great Dane rescues and a retired Greyhound rescue. Obviously my Danes are cat friendly. ALL my dogs are. On 8-27-25 Carole emailed and asked if the dogs on the application were mine or if they were fosters. I replied that they were mine. We do have six dogs. They are our babies. Incredibly well taken care of. I have numerous vets, surgeons, radiologists, and chemo doc that can attest to this. While we were waiting for the application results my wife and I visited Gidget a couple more times. On 8-29-25 my wife visited Gidget and inquired about our application and was told by Carole it would sometime next week. This morning 8-30-25 I received an email from Carole stating we were denied because “due to the number of dogs in the house it would not be a good fit for our cats”. I replied back and stated and said did you not see that we have a cat. She then replied and said “she did not think she would do well with six large dogs”. So none of your cats are dog friendly? How do you know? So if I had six small dogs it would be ok? I requested a call. They have yet to respond. I brought my little cat Reese’s in when she was 3-4 months old and she has run the show from day one. I have never seen a rescue with a 3.8 star rating. It’s because of Carole. Carole it’s not about YOU, it’s about the cats finding wonderful homes. What you did today was keeping that wonderful little Gidget from finding her forever home. To the wonderful people of Weatherford and the surrounding area DO NOT visit Weatherford Whiskers. Do not waste your time. Go to Weatherford Animal Control and adopt a kitty for $50 sometimes they have specials at $25 that includes spay/neuter, shots, and chip. If Carole does not like you for ANY reason you can forget it. Read the reviews. It’s true. Carole is truly doing Weatherford Whiskers a disservice. Carole didn’t even call our references. I would love for them to do a house visit. Gidget is the one that lost today!!! Shame on you Carole. Carole is keeping a lot of cats from finding their forever homes. Below is a few of my dogs...

The blonde older woman was quite blunt and frankly rude. We came in because we tried calling over a dozen times, across a few days with no answer. We saw a post on their Facebook showing several TNR cats they had taken in recently, one looks identical to our cat that went missing from our yard two weeks ago. Without letting us even finish explaining our situation she was adamant that it is not our cat, that lots of cats look alike and they aren’t just going around trapping peoples cats. We never once thought they just came and trapped our cat, there are stray cat colonies in the neighbourhood and there have been times in the past when people have set up TNR programs for the strays in our area. Please update your voicemail and website to state you do not take found or stray cats. It would save a lot of time and complaints for people just trying to do the right thing and help animals in need. See all of the other reviews regarding this.

Weatherford Shelter turns people away and you are on their list of recommended rescues to reach out to, but you never answer the phone or return calls.

Currently even anyone looking to volunteer, adopt, or donate, must just show up which is nerve wrecking when some of your volunteers are extremely rude.

I've tried to donate and to get help/resources for stray kittens. Never got responses for either even after multiple phone calls on multiple days with multiple voicemails.
