So1st off the bat the young chick at the counter was extremely nice and the clothes were sectioned well so we will start with the good but that's about it... I kept seeing used clothes from Walmart priced as much as Walmart except they are used I mean cmon. Their pricing is stupid high now! Then they only have 1 dressing room open when there is like 5 and my mom went in and no idea others were closed and a line built up behind her. A customer asked do u have any open rooms and the this girl working in the back said very rudely "there is 1 and some1 is in it rn" And then my mom asked nicely when the same girl was walking by "Do you know why they only have 1 dressing room open? And she said (again rudely) we only have to have 1 open by law she proceeded to tell her you know we are closing in a few minutes. And I thought to myself yes we know your closing bcoz u turned the lights off 20 minutes ago while I was waiting in line to try on clothes while staring at 4 other dressing rooms! And we would have been outta here by now... plus it was filthy and there is no where to hang the clothes they knocked off the hooks, no where to put your purse and that's to deter you from trying on alot of stuff. so if she wants talk about the "law" my mom is handicapped and 1 of the closed dressing rooms was the handicapped 1. You know when they opened across the street from take 2 consignment they put them out of business...
Read moreWhat an unpleasant experience. I went to drop off 4 boxes of clothes/household items today and arrived at 3:01. The website does NOT show drop off hours. There is a sign on the OPEN door to the backroom that says drop off ends at 3:00. I spoke to a person inside who said I cant drop anything off because it would be considered dumping if I leave it outside and the plaza management would take a photo of my license plate (from their cameras?!) and I'd be reported. I told them I am happy to bring boxes inside so I wouldn't be dumping. They said no because they didn't leave bins outside and I can't come inside (I have brought boxes into the back rooms of Salvation Army centers many times as a courtesy to their employees). I asked for the manager because I'd driven 25 minutes from Whitinsville and I would have been there at 2:58 if their dropoff location were more obvious (instead I drove to the wrong side of the plaza). She said I am the manager and I can't make an exception. NO ONE should be in a management position if they can't understand when to make a REASONABLE exception to a rule. Ridiculous! No wonder there are so many 1 star reviews. Get it together Salvation Army and be more charitable in your rules to the people who are donating charitably (or buying your goods and supporting...
Read moreSadly like goodwill, very few can afford the salvation army. It's definitely very unfortunate to go in this place and see stuff that I have donated for ridiculous amounts of money. Salvation army likes to use the "rent, labor, picking the stuff up, etc" as reasons for the ridiculous prices.
What they forget to tell you is that they get are 501c3 charity who gets state and federal tax exemptions. They also don't pay tax on there property.
The salvation army also writes off employee wages, marketing, electricity, repairs to there vehicles, milage for picking up items, employee benefits, and business losses.
Don't be fooled by there response of paying wages, time sorting, picking items up, recycling which means they sell huge truckloads full of clothes to foreign countries for money that they don't want.
Salvation is a charity that gets items donated for free. They choose to go pick the stuff up. They also seem to have forgotten what charities are for.
There are plenty of other charities out there that are much better to donate to than salvation army...
