I had called 6 different electricians and you and one other were the only ones to call me back. The one I didnât hire wasnât licensed for multi-unit buildings, he told me that up front and I appreciated his honesty. You required to be paid before you even showed up to show your value, is a business model that I completely disagree with. Your statement was, âwe are committing to sending 3 people out so we want a commitment from youâ. You were my only choice, and, had I had another I would have never hired you. I was only here for two weeks and had many contractors scheduled to do work and wanted the electrical systems in our house checked. Dan was condescending on the phone, telling me Iâm âputting the icing on the cake firstâ because the painters were already scheduled, that the electrical should come first because you may need to tear out drywall and then I would need to have them patched them up, totally out of the realm I was looking for. You never really bothered to ask what I was doing, why I was doing it in the order I was. Perhaps you should ask more questions before making uninformed statements.
Three of you showed up for the appointment. I feel like I paid $1250 to be sold to, one person to do the work and the other two were here to sell me electrical services I didnât need. And for that amount of money I would have at least expected a written report stating what was checked and the condition of each item, good, bad or ugly, with recommendations. Maybe thatâs a liability for you to actually document what was or wasnât examined. On the phone I was told you would correct anything and do any work that didnât require equipment to be purchased. You told me the person doing my tear out could remove the security system, that would be me! You knew I wanted that done, I should have asked you to do it, so shame on me. It did not require any additional purchased components to be removed. Bobby did all the testing while Dan and Howard used rudimentary, old school, emotional scare tactics to convince me I needed things that were not necessary. I recognized every one of your sales pitches as Iâve had more sales training than anyone person should. And Howard, no one cares how many degrees you have, all we wanted was an honest electrician, not a plumber or a heat pump installer which we had already hired. And you should not be making negative comments about your competitors. Telling me I needed 6 -7 wired smoke/carbon detectors to bring the house up to code is incorrect and you must be aware of that. The house is at code for the time it was built. And $6000--$7000 for a new electric panel is insane. I am still waiting for the quote Dan was going to send me. By the way, my heat pumps are installed, running beautifully and I didnât even need a sub-panel. With your current business model I can see why you were the only company to call me back and available with short notice. I understand you want the big expensive jobs, itâs like being a luxury real estate agent, which by the way I am, but I work in all price ranges as those small sales ultimately turn into really big ones. I would think your business is a relationship business like real estate. I hope you find your ideal customers with deep pockets, that is just not us.
Anyone considering this company should also Google HomeWiz Belmont MA, same people with similar reviews to this one.
In response to your comment: If you could share your documentation with me that would be great as I have never even received a paid invoice from you, much less documentation on your visit...
Read moreI recently purchased a summer home in Wells. I needed some electrical work done upon acquisition of the property. I looked around on the internet for an electrician and stumbled upon Homewiz. At first I read all the reviews on the homepage and thought wow what a well-respected company. Upon further reviews I noticed that none of the reviews had a place of origin. It's clear they were all made up. I should have let that be the first warning. But instead I gave the them the benefit of the doubt, because they were close by, and called them to schedule an appointment. Right off the bat they gave me excuses about why they couldn't make it out quickly, how busy they were, and that maybe they could squeeze me in. I felt like I was being up sold right off the bat. They quoted me a rather substantial amount that I thought was exorbitant just to come out and assess the job. I didn't end up using the company. I found a much more reputable electrician who was well reviewed by my actual neighbors. One of which told me that homewiz had a bad reputation around town.....And that even if they did a poor job they would constantly harass you for a positive review after the job was completed. Is that what this world has come to these days. Companies harassing customers for positive online reviews. I guess I'm just too old to understand this type business behavior. I've been a business owner for 44 years. When I hear of such practices and activity I have to speak up. I hope my review will help readers do their due diligence and investigate any local company they hire to do work on their beloved homes...
Read moreUpdated review as of 6/20/2025. If I could give zero stars I would. This is the worst company I have EVER WORKED WITH. I called HomeWiz in July 2024 looking for a second opinion on a problem with my Heat Pump. While I originally was pleased with the help the provided.by spending time researching and attempting to find a solution that would not require me to replace the entire Heat Pump system they neglected to tell me that for the solution I did choose the wiring should be updated from 14 to 18 gauge wiring to be compatible with the new unit. Yes I chose to not replace the entire heat pump system but never did they tell me that the existing wiring was not compatible with the new unit. How as I supposed to know that them saying using existing wiring meant that the existing wiring wasnât compatible if I wasnât explicitly told that it wasnât compatible. If I had been told that then I would most definitely had considered other options but all I was told was that they found a unit that could be swapped out. They left out important these important details. It is less than a year later and the fuse exploded because of this wiring issue. The few times I have tried to discuss this with the someone at HoneWiz I have been treated disrespectfully. They are condescending to me and completely unprofessional. Now that I look back on my initial experience with them I remember the service technician refused to leave my house until I had given them a 5 star review. I felt bullied into leaving a positive review because of him standing over me. Worst...
