Savin Rock Parkade — Local services in West Haven

I go there because it's close to where I live. It has a few good places to shop at like Family dollar and Dunkin donuts but really it's just a little plaza with a few stores in it. They used to have a little supermarket in it but they always seem to go out of business. So currently there's: People's Bank, a Chinese restaurant, a liquor store, a laundry mat, a small gym, a bar (Pete's), Family Dollar and Dunkin Donuts. There are some other small stores on the other side but I can't think of them...

The parking lot is a whole mess of potholes, and the makeshift handicap ramps are horrible, considering senior/disabled housing is right next door. Many of the businesses have been vacant for years, and most that come in are closed within months. It's really sad because it could be a perfect location if improved, but from what I hear the rents are outrageous (For what?! It's so sketchy!). This area does not do any justice to the once bustling...

I'm so disappointed how this parkade Plaza went down, it has become so blah and many stores are shut down. It's an olio of odd-lot stores and not very pretty either, what an eyesore for such a lovely beachfront area of our city! It shows the lack of money and customers..what a shame. I hope one day I would see beautiful stores and fine dining in that...
