Let me preface this with the fact that years ago, I used to eat at Apps very often and loved it…it’s NOT the same Apps! Beware! We took our aunt there for her 86th birthday. The service was terrible (there was a big function in the private room, and the waitress apparently was working the party and in the dining room. My baked potato had a huge black thing in it the size of a walnut (gross), and I asked for pasta instead (how could no one have noticed that…it was huge!). There were 6 of us, and everyone felt the food was just “ok”. Some of the order was wrong, but since no one came back to ask how it was, I guess we were stuck with it. I waited so long for my soda, by the time it came, I didn’t even drink it! The entrees were pricey, and I felt they nickel and dimed you for everything (one example, I changed the type of sauce on our pasta and they charged extra for that!). My 86 year old aunt was disappointed because she got Scrod Oreganata and she though she ordered the Scrod with Capers and diced tomatoes. I asked the waitress if she could just get some capers and diced tomatoes so we can just add it to her meal and she said “she ordered that and we will have to charge her for the capers”. Geez, talk about not being accommodating! The final straw is that my 86 year old aunt has been ill for 5 days and they suspect food poisoning. My sister called the manager to tell him and he was VERY rude – said the scrod is always fresh and basically hung up on her…NEVER AGAIN. ...
Read moreMy husband and I go to Apps about every 6 weeks. The food is excellent and I always get the Salmon. It’s always excellent and cooked to perfection. We went recently with our grandson who is nine and he tried the calamari for the first time. He really liked it and he’s a very picky kid 😊 The calamari is always light and fried just right with a light golden color . Everything my husband orders is always excellent as well. I don’t drink wine very often and asked the bartender to recommend a wine for me as I tried to explain what I wanted in a wine , very difficult to try and explain that . He graciously offered me 3 different wines to try and a 4th sample was exactly what I was looking for! He also noticed from across the room standing behind the bar the portion size of the salmon ( it was very small, first time that has ever happened) that I had ordered and immediately told our waiter ( who was great by the way) to make up a large size piece of salmon to go - no charge ! So no , most restaurants won’t do that ! What else can I say , excellent service, they take excellent care of their customers and are very accommodating. We , of course will continue to go to Apps restaurant as we have been for at...
Read moreI haven’t been to this place in quite some time. Was in the neck of the words and decided to stop in .... With no reservations was no problems. They’re not as packed or they weren’t at that time anyway as they used to be. But there was a decent crowd there. Food was still reasonably priced some items are a little pricey but not out of control. I of course like always have to order something that is not on the menu. Which the waiter said he would have no problems accommodating what I needed. Sure enough he did to End made the meal happen ... The waiter was quite a nice gentleman with a kind of a funny like disposition. Food was quite a good portion sauce was old-school like it used to be. Pasta al dente and I believe most of the pasta there is homemade and . There is a good chunk of seafood on the menu not just Italian pasta there was a wonderful off the menu steak that would look absolutely scrumptious. More than I can handle that night though so I passed on that. Overall I would highly...
