We are extremely disappointed with this company. A&M Friendly Movers came highly reviewed and highly recommended. The moving crew we had arrived in sour mood that continued throughout the day. They were very slow on the loading side, using the entire quoted time (almost 9 hours) to load our fully packed and staged small twin house, which would have been fine if it were because they were being extra cautious. But it turns out they were actually pretty rough with our belongings, causing noticeable damage to more than a few items. They broke the frame of a large antique mirror that is a family heirloom. Not one of the movers apologized for breaking the mirror. They just avoided me for the rest of the time. They were specifically asked not to stuff my bikes in, that I would go back for the bikes if they didn't fit. The handlebar wraps on one of my bikes are destroyed. And the front wheel fell off of the other one, along with the fork (itself, not the whole front) being intentionally turned almost all the way around. There are chunks missing from our wooden furniture, and both of our desks had to be replaced. I spent over a week of attempting to contact Tom regarding the mirror and getting back nothing but excuses. Since A&M’s insurance is done by weight of item (and it doesn’t cover electronics but that’s neither here nor there), we got $120 back for the mirror. So far I haven’t found anyone who is able to fix it. We didn’t seek compensation for further damaged items after that, not worth the headache. When I initially spoke with Amber to book this move she assured me it would be a quick, easy move. I filled out the inventory and updated it as we continued to pack. I double and triple checked that A&M had all of the information they needed from us. How what was quoted as under an 9 hour job turned into 13 hours of awfulness and way more expensive than we banked on is completely beyond me. We were quoted $1800. We wound up paying over $2250. That doesn’t include the costs of replacing our desks, repairing our wood furniture, and the eventual cost of repairing the mirror, once we find someone who can fix it.
Stay away from this company if you value your stuff!
Editing to add that I expressed all of this to Tom at A&M weeks before posting this review. He did...
Read moreThese are the worse movers I’ve ever worked with. Wow- the whole moving experience with this company was so bad- it seemed surreal. Showed up late. Insufficient man power. 3 guys to move a 3 story Victorian home full of furniture & basement. We were told that there supposed to be 4 guys but one didn’t show. Doubt that would’ve made a difference. Paid Packing service- Off white upholstered club chairs from west elm wrapped with dirty moving blankets, instead of shrink wrap. Items thrown into boxes rather than placed. Disassembly & Assembly of large furniture such as beds & table. Legs installed back on to dining table wrong. Some items not assembled. Overall lack of care with items. Pedestal table leg broken, custom upholstered club chair scratched. Moving trucks - the company uses trucks which have battery & break issues & does not follow up with proper maintenance. During our move one of the two trucks died. The crew did not have proper jumper cables & the boss was MIA. So my husband had to drive out to local pep boys & buy long jumper cables for them. The workers say this happens all the time. Due to insufficient moving staff & dysfunctional trucks- it took 2 days for our move to be completed. We were moving a half hour away. Yes, you read that correctly. 2 days to move. The day of our move - it was 8 pm and the movers still had 1/4 of the house left to move. So we had to ask the movers to stop & restart the next day. The two trucks that were full of our stuff were parked in some unknown lot- which we were told was secure. We had to book a hotel instead of our new home. Then spend a second day moving which lasted until 9 pm only because we had the movers drop lots of stuff in the garage- just so that we could get this over and done with. Otherwise, we would’ve been there until who knows what time! Omg- what a total...
Read moreI started to communicate with them in early June and received a fair quote that I was happy with and we were going up in the air on the move out date. During the conversations I was informed I would be getting called back this happened about three times but I was the one who called them back. As we were trying to work in dates for the move and then packing as an option I was informed again of new dates and told they would call me back today June 20, 2022. At the time I called them back to lock in the move for the date of July 1 that w. Talking to them they said they would call me back after looking at some things. At no time did they call me to tell me that that date has changed (when they said they would call me back) and it’s less than a week and a half out of moving a three bedroom house trying to find new movers. I do not have a problem with them being busy or dates becoming few and far between the problem I have is the poor communication.
UPDATED 6/22/2022: Clearly you did not read my review. My issue was not about you being booked it was about the POOR communication FROM you when I was told I would be getting called back after your scheduled was reviewed. I first emailed you May 31, 2022 and got an email back from Thomas and that started the communications for a move that was going to occur on June 30th. As we got closer I was informed by Tom during conversations that he would call me back as he needed to look into things, schedule and availability for packing, moving and dates. I always had to call you back, and by the time I finally spoke to someone I was told that the date available was no longer an option. Your communication is poor and reflects upon...
