Schneider Hardware — Local services in West Orange

After wasting most of my Saturday at multiple Home Depot’s and Lowe’s looking for a 5 lb. mattock pick to dig up some stuff in my yard, an employee around the corner at the Orange Garden Center recommended Schneider Hardware because, “the gentleman who works there has and can find anything.” I went and was greeted and sure enough, he had the exact tool I was looking for! It is so refreshing to use a local hardware store and he also happens to sharpen “anything with a blade.” He is super professional and courteous. He went above and beyond because even though the store was supposed to close at 5:30pm, it was 5:40pm when I paid for my tools. That customer service is so hard to find. I am relieved to have found a reliable hardware store again and I highly recommend it if you live near this location - particularly for Glen Ridge and Montclair. Being the son and grandson of carpenters, I grew up around traditional old world European hardware stores, so much so that their smells of metal and wood are ingrained as a sweet childhood memory. Home centers don't have that. not even close.
