Thomas Edison’s estate in Llewellyn Park, West Orange is open for tours several times a day on weekends. Sign up online. Pick up passes at the Thomas Edison visitor center. The tour is free with admission to the Edison Laboratory. Tour lasts 30 minutes and the ranger was knowledgeable and interesting. Much of the furnishings are original. No photography inside. There is also a carriage house with several vehicles including two electric.

While a beautiful home and interesting tour it was very very short. You get about 30 minutes in the home and you’re restricted to the first floor. For a home that has hosted many historic people and so many events things just felt very rushed. Because of its quick timeline the details you get in the tour are very minimal. I wasn’t very impressed, and honestly I was disappointed.

The house tour is closed when we were there, garage and greenhouse are open though. However, even walk around the ground is very pleasant. The huge house is absolutely beautiful. Park ranger is very friendly. One tip, you have to visit the visitor center located on Main Street first and get a pass to visit the Thomas Edison Home. Pass fee is $15pp, valid for 7 days.

You can get a pass for the car to walk around Edison's house in the information center on Main Street but if you want to get a tour inside of the house you need to ask and if you will be lucky you can get tickets. Without a car there is nothing to do there. And you don't need a lot of time to explore the park around the house

Loved every minute of this experience. All the labs are preserved without moving anything, so they are very old smelling and dusty. Please wear a mask. Visit their house and Resting place too, if you have a 4 th grader, entry for the entire family is free. If you have kids , give them a chance to become a junior Ranger.

Huge house with very unique architecture. I assumed Edison built it, but he actually purchased it. You have to ask for a pass while at the lab to see the house and then drive over, since it is in a gated community. Think about how cool it would be to be Edison's neighbor.
