The emergency room staff today were absolutely AWFUL. My husband, who's only 35, has a history of heart problems, and his blood pressure was very high. This, in combination with severe pain in the back of his head that was very abnormal for him. He waited 3+ hrs to be seen. He can physically feel when his blood pressure gets that high and requested to have it checked because it was getting bad. He doesnt just go to the hospital. So when he says he needs to go, something is wrong. When they finally called him back and got him a room he was out of there in less than 5 minutes. The doctor just walked in and said he was being discharged. Didnt ask any questions about the symptoms. Didnt run anything but blood. The nurse was also surprised that he was being sent home and had come in with supplies to put an IV in. She went to confirm with the doctor. My husbands blood pressure was so high it was setting off the alarm. Then, the nurse returned, gave him discharge papers and a single pill and then sent him out. His blood pressure, as noted in his discharge paperwork was 185/100. Dangerously high. Considered a medical emergency. AT THE TIME OF HIS DISCHARGE. And they didnt bother to tell him that they were sending in a prescription and what he was supposed to do with it. And they didnt even keep him long enough to make sure the medicine was controlling his blood pressure. When we got home his heart rate was still VERY high. Dangerously high. It is clear the doctor did not care to help him. The hospital should be ashamed of this ER departments conduct today. Thank god for the nurse who went to advocate for him. otherwise, he probabaly wouldnt have even been given that. He has had his heart stopped and restarted several times due to afib. Which followed blood pressure in the 168/100 range. so you can imagine my dismay with his release with no answers or explainations with blood pressure being above a safe level when they discharged him. Im not one to make a scene, especially in public, but this situation was so absurd and medically irresponsible i went in and raised hell at the desk asking for an explanation. And yes i was heated. They were incredibly rude about the situation and did absolutely nothing. Other than a snooty nurse who wasnt even his nurse who came out and she insisted he was medically cleared. How the hell would you know that, ma'am, when the doctor didnt even bother to check. I hesitate to EVER bring a family member having a medical crisis to this hospital again. I have been in contact with other doctors and a family member who was an EMT for a long time. All of them said he should never have been sent home with the levels that high and recommended we go to another hospital to get a second opinion. And i can only imagine what they are going to charge for their "services" today. And worse still, if the doctor is doing that on a regular basis he is putting peoples lives at risk. Taking a gamble with someones wellbeing. I hope this doctor is reprimanded at the very least and i have been in contact with the grievance department. I intend to launch a formal complaint at the very least. And charge me for the blood work and the triage. Nothing more because you did NOTHING but hook him up to a blood pressure machine that was indicating a serious problem and was ignored. Shame on any healthcare worker that does this or doesn't speak up and do something when its gravely important to do so.
It just keeps on. Thanks, Ozarks healthcare for your generic one size fits all response. And does that happen to be the number for a grievance? The operator when I first called cold transferred when she said she would help if they didn't answer. Surprise, surprise that took me to a voicemail machine and she had ditched the call. I left a voicemail and at this point I am just banking on the hospital just letting this doctor continue to do this. And charge people an ungodly amount to receive such poor and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGo somewhere else if you can. I will give a quick rundown of my condition. I am a type 1(since childhood) diabetic. Insulin dependent. I now have terminal liver cancer and have to have a transplant to live. I have other serious medical problem including lung damage from a really bad case of covid a few years ago. I am in a serious situation. My diabetes is acting even worse since the radiation. My blood sugars were dropping and everything I drank some juice or correcting glucose I would be sick. I have been in good control, somtimes with all the illness it acts up. Short version my body is ticked my sugars wouldn't stabilize. I spent 2 hours at home trying to stabilize, I was in trouble at home I'm being sick, sweating, shaking, passing out. If you seen a diabetic episode they are scary. We live in the country so we decide to drive to the em station. I am drinking sugar water as my alarm sounds on the way. We get to the station, my husband rings the bell and no one answers. Ok so it says to dial 911. We call 911 they tell the guys inside I am there. They come out to get me I'm sitting in the truck. We tell them what's going on. The paramedic says come on asks me to follow and turns his back and walks way for me to follow. Good thing I can walk almost on my own. I get in the ambulance and they were efficient, not very caring but ok efficient and decently human will work at this point. We have a 30 minute ride to hospital. It was ok. We get to the er everyone is grouchy and borderline rude. They were treating me like I was an inconvenience. I literally asked the nurse what everyone's problem was. She tried to be condescending and rude. see I was sick and my husband hadnt come back yet. The minute he came back, a 6 ft angry looking guy cause his wife is in serious condition, the nurse starts acting all nice ( and I mean acting) and keeps looking at my husband and daughter. The nurse was rude, she took my blood sugar which means she pricked my finger, she dropped the alcohol pad (open) on the floor and then tried to still use it on my finger again. I said no please use a different one, she did but if i wouldnt of said anything. The nurse who stood in the room and entered over my meds was rude and stomped out when done saying nothing. Even the woman who walked us out at the end was rude. It was horrible. I am not someone to run to the doctor, I have years of serious illness don't enjoy this. I was treated like an inconvenience and like i shouldn't be there. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had shoulder surgery on May 11,2023. Dr Roeder(whom isnāt on staff anymore) and came out with a twisted bicep muscle that looks like a twisted twizzler licorice piece.i have almost no bicep strength in my left arm now. It feels like itās ripping my muscle off when i use it. Iāve told my new Dr , Caleb Piate, he said we had to wait until my new surgery (carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve transposition) heals and then address it. Well itās April 14, yesterday and my elbow is on fire. I go to bathroom and look in magnifying mirror and guess what? A couple stitches from January 31 operation(supposedly taken out on Feb15) are trying to break out of my skin all on their own. I was able to pull one out with tweezers, but one remains under the unbroken skin. Now I will have to drive 84 miles round trip to get it taken out when it should have been removed 2 months ago. I would give a one star review but Iām waiting to see if anyone at the hospital reads these. Hopefully management because all my complaints have gone unanswered so far. Itās going on a year now and no help at all trying to fix my blundered shoulder surgery which has left me partially crippled. I canāt use my bicep in left arm at even close to full strength. Is it time to call Dr. Brad Bradshaw? If I donāt get a response, Iāll happily lower it to one star. Do you think Iāll get compensation for my gas? Hahahaha what a joke. I gave Ozarkshealthcare a second chance by coming back for a second surgery after the first one was terrible, I would think they would have been heads up for the second one but I was wrong. It seems as if sub par performance is ok with the staff and management. Everyone tried to warn me not to go to west plains but I didnāt listen. Oh by the way, they billed my shoulder surgery so slow that my May2023, surgery billed into this year so although my out of pocket max was met last July, I got bills I had to pay out of pocket for 2023 because they took so long to get the bills out. It is April 15,2024 and I have yet to get a bill for my elbow surgery on January 31,2024! Then when you get a bill , it says it headed to collections because itās late!!! The very poorest billing department in all of history of companies. I am so wanting to seek legal advice on my entire situation but my wife is wanting to see if they make it right with my bicep and the leftover stitches in my arm. The shoulder repair in May 2023 was a botched surgery and itās their fault! Own it and fix it for free!...
