Big Y — Local services in Westborough

My 1st impression of Big Y in Westborough:

I stopped at the hot food section and ordered a steak and cheese. On a whim I asked for mushrooms and bacon (which I don’t even think was on the menu). Instead of just saying “no,” Dan, Bruce, and two ladies literally huddled up like a team to figure it out. They kept thanking me for my patience and told me “we’re all learning but we’ll make something amazing for you.” Five minutes later, one of the ladies greeted me with a big smile and said, “we’re all hungry now.” Sure enough, they pulled it off. I think they even went to the pizza department to grab what they needed.

On my way out I grabbed some Thai coconut curry and chicken soup.

When I went to check out, an employee noticed the person in front of me had a full cart, so they personally offered to ring me out at self-checkout. I even got a free Big Y bag on the way out.

The pizza is good and gives us a better option than most of the Greek-style pizza in the area. The only problem is that they don’t answer the phone very often, it doesn’t appear you can order online or even find the pizza menu online, and after pickup you have to go through the checkout line to pay. The store is smaller and aisles are narrower than I would’ve expected. The biggest bummer is that there’s no curbside pick up option. With little kids and other grocery store options in the area that offer this, this will limit us to pizza customers. All staff I’ve interacted with have been super friendly and the store is very neat...

No room for their carts in the store. Could be an issue in the winter. Patrons like walking into the store and getting a warm cart. No bigger carts which will disturb some. Appears every patron will be a cart retriever for them. Didn't see any baskets to carry items either. They may have them but didn't see them or anyone carrying them. Bags are .10 and are too small. No lottery but didn't look for it. Front of store confusing and seems congested. Deli and bakery halfway decent. All the other meat is in the opposite back corner. You have to sign up for that card or not go there is my analysis...
