I gave Ziti's a try for lunch today since my co-workers were telling me how good it was. After today I'm convinced either my co-workers have no taste buds or Ziti's gave me the shaft since I ordered take-out.
I ordered a Chicken Parm w/Linguini dinner using their online portal. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I got back to work with my order that they screwed up and gave me ziti pasta instead. I didn't have time to go back and get the pasta I ordered so I sucked it up and just ate it.
If it was just that I'd give them more than one star...
The actual chicken parm itself was the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten, and mind you I grew up eating blood sausage regularly. I'm pretty sure the breading has parmesan cheese in it, but when combined with their sauce it was next to inedible. Mind you I love salt but this had more salt than a deep fried salt lick.
I could have even forgiven that if the chicken was cooked well... but it wasn't.
As God as my witness I swear that the piece of chicken meat I got had freezer burn. The piece was pounded to about 1/8" thick, but it looked like someone had first boiled the meat to an inch of its life before breading and then deep fried it. The resulting texture was something like leather or beef jerky.
I tried to eat a few bites of the chicken but I ended up throwing most of it away. I regret even trying to eat a little of it; the thing was so nasty that I was burping up bits of it for the remainder of the afternoon.
Overall it not only wasn't worth the $18 and change the dinner ended up costing me (w/tax and tip), I'd have had a better meal if I went to the Burger King up the road and bought a Chicken Parm sandwich from them instead. The only redeeming part of the order was the pieces of bread they threw into the bag, but they definitely...
Read moreTried this place for the first time yesterday. Gotta say, it was pretty fantastic.
My wife and I started with the Caesar salad. Very fresh, cold, lettuce, plenty of dressing and parmesan and homemade croutons.
I got the Eggplant Rollatini and a side meatball. The Rollatini was perfect proportions of ingredients. The prosciutto was crispy at the edges which was a great touch.
My grandmother used to make Italian style meatballs that were the size of your fist. Helping her cook those things as a little kid is a core memory of mine and this meatball was the closest I've ever tasted. Took me back! Sauce was smooth and flavorful.
The real star of the whole meal was the pizza. First, it's big. Feels like a touch over a usual large. 3 adults would be full and there's probably be a slice leftover.
The crust is crispy and chewy and airy. Perfect combo.
The ricotta is piped not globbed like some places do so you get lots of bites of it throughout. Honestly, best pizza I have had in years. Can't wait to try more kinds!
We also grabbed a cannoli to go for dessert later. Again, one of the best I've ever had and I go for cannoli over just about anything when they're on the menu. Creamy consistency of the filling, shell super fresh and crispy even after being in the fridge for a few hours after.
Can't wrap up without mentioning the waitstaff. 2 waitresses taking care of the place and they know their stuff. Easy going, personable, willing to explain anything on the menu, and kept an eye on everything very well!
This place is a real gem. Great food, great service, great portions, and reasonable prices. This is going to be my go to for Italian for the...
Read moreAtmosphere is very ordinary - like a pizza place. Take out orders and picked up in the seating area instead of at the register near the door creating a flow of people back and forth in the restaurant. Very noisy with tile floors and no drapes across the front of the restaurant to soften the noise from all the glass windows and also hide the view of the parking lot.
Putting that aside my husband and I loved the bread and the house salad. Bread was hot and the dressing was very good. That's where the good food ended.
I ordered the Saffron Linquini (scallops, shrimp, and I chose the lemon, chicken broth. I was told they had just run out. It was 5:00. Turns out they were only out of the linquini and I could order with ziti which I did. When it arrived the sauce was a lot of chicken broth and olive oil and had not been reduced or seasoned so it was like thin soup and not very tasty. The scallops had been cooked in the broth with the shrimp. Scallops were bland and still had the side muscle attached and had no flavor. The schrimp was very good they were large and tender. The ziti was not overcooked but I had to hold it over the plate and let the broth and oil drain off before I ate it. Very bland.
My husband order the Chicke Risotto. The Risotto was NOT made with aborio rice but looked like an instant rice made with too much cicken stock as it was soupy and not creamy as risotto should be. There was alot of chicken which was just as bland the rice and my Saffron Linguini.
The restaurant was a little busy for early on a Saturday night. Maybe we should have ordered something with a marinara sauce or a pizza which did look very good.
We...
