I had discovered this store while planning a family weekend trip to Boston area, so decided to throw some lego sets for trade-in in the trunk at the last moment before departing and stop by this store during my trip. When I walked in - I asked the owner few questions about the inventory and how it is priced. He seemed to be annoyed with those right away for some reason, so I just left him alone and kept walking around. BTW, I cannot say that the prices were super great, some seemed to be higher than bricklink or other major retailers of new sets . I saw some sets selling there that were interesting to me and was pretty much ready to spend some money on those, hoping to lower down my out of pocket spending by doing the trades. I asked who was available to look at my trades - and two of the employees looked those up and actually gave me what I consider a pretty fair estimate, but the owner has suddenly stepped in at the last moment and basically lowered down every single trade value, on top of that he has completely refused to take some of the sets at all (from what was refused out of retired sets - one older Star Wars set was complete, but missing minifigs, one Star Wars set was complete, but missing 2 minifigs out of 4, one complete ninjago set with missing 1 minifig out of 2, apparently the owner only wanted to take in new sealed in the box sets). I felt very disappointed at that point and kind of mad with the way it has happened. My wife saw that too, and we have just both decided that we don
t want to buy anything major from this store just because of the owners attitude. In addition to that I should say that I have 2 similar used lego stores in my area, where I have never had a similar situation and haven
t faced with such approach with me as a customer in those stores. The next day I stopped by another used lego store in a different state on the way home and they had no problems to accept those trades proposing a fair estimate. Also, I asked the owner if the bulk legos pieces that are sold there are washed and cleaned - the answer was yes, however when I looked closer - there was a lot of hair, dirt and different litter inside. For example, there is a smaller store in Boston area not too far away, in Norwood that we have visited a day before - that store had the bulk pieces really clean and shiny. At this point I think I dont want to come back to Boston Brick Co store if Ill be in the area in the future. Very disappointed with my... Read moreWhat a GREAT experience on a moderately busy Sunday. I had called the day before inquiring about a couple of old sets to see if they possibly had them in stock, me being 40 minutes away. I had been to the stores around the Providence and Southeastern MA area and couldn’t find what I was looking for. To take nothing from any of the other stores, this was delightful. Not only were the owners and staff super friendly and willing to help, you could tell they LOVED what they do. You’ll see this in the Lego store itself, and a lot of the B&Mins as well. To summarize:
Prices: under market and generous. Especially not trying to gauge people for retired or out of stock elsewhere sets.
Selection: unmatched anywhere else I’ve seen. More minifigs than you can imagine, and the staff are always willing to help dig through any bin anywhere in the back to help find that one last thing you need or want.
Staff: friendly, generous, willing to give you time to discuss the needs of a new, younger Lego enthusiast (my child) while somehow also able to answer other customers. Phenomenal.
THIS IS A MUST VISIT FOR ANY LEGO FAN. The displays alone are awesome. Will...
Read moreFor fans of building with LEGO (or collecting sets) this is a place well worth visiting. The staff were friendly and helpful and you will find everything from new, more recent sets to vintage sets for sale. For those traveling far, like us (3 hours with traffic), it's worth noting that they have a bathroom you can use (LEGO themed, of course!). My son loved the create-a-minifigure area (there was even a special sale that day: buy 4 get the 5th free). The highlight for my son, though, was the expansive pick-a-brick area. Choose your size bag and fill it with as many pieces as you can (as long as the bag closes!).
We had been debating between this and the Discovery Center and this was totally the...
