I would have rated it 4.5 if that was an option for the simple fact that it's definitely not perfect worthy of a perfect score, but that's not to downplay it's overall greatness. Reasons for it's less than 5 grade have to do with the limited space jam pact with items which also means that it's jam pact with SAVINGS.
So although the narrow isles & at times odd display locations & positioning make it somewhat difficult to seamlessly maneuver with a cart, especially when it's busy, isn't ideal, the fact that it's an obstacle course constructed with massive savings on the same products you purchase everywhere else potentially hinders your ability to Jeff Gordon your grocery trip once you get your receipt it will have been worth it.
I actually just recently began shopping at Saar's, which I almost do exclusively now. I was so taken aback by the large disparity in grand totals of large shopping trips between my usual Safeway & Fred Meyer when compared to Saar's that I can't see myself outside of a pinch returning back to those stores for my large food purchases, it would defy common sense & unnecessarily elbow my checking account in the face when I could instead inflict a soft slap to it's face with Saar's & not the disease.
With all of the economic destruction caused by 18 months of what appears to be intentional dismantling of the dollar, inflation has become an enormous consequence of that. This of course has dramatically increased the prices of goods/services I'm accustomed to buying & therefore have a grip on what the average cost of these things are, but those prices I was used to paying with the occasional incremental increase adding to the price slightly over a long period was tossed out the window & many products/services drastically increased in price virtually overnight.
Basically what I'm taking forever to say is that at Saar's I've discovered preinflated prices that I'm comfortable paying, & at times those prices are even cheaper than what I was used to paying before all of this EXCEPT for yogurt! Their yogurt price points aren't a good reflection of Saar's soul & could use some soul searching & deliberation with self to determine if those prices coincide with their purpose & mission which I feel would be really beneficial for Saar's in achieving some self improvement & with that the realization that perhaps their yogurt prices aren't a true projection of who they are.
Of course satisfaction can only be reached in that regard once they can alter those yogurt prices to be in line with whom they are & strive to be, "If Savings were All Stars, All Stars would be Saar's!" (Now hop in your car, cause we ain't far!) Hardi Har Har Har..... Har.
P.S. I almost forgot, if Jeff Gordon style grocery shopping is the only style of shopping you're capable or willing to do then I have great news for you! Saar's is open 24/7! Meaning if you show up @ 3:33AM or a similar time you're likely to be 1 of a few or even zero other customers allowing you to push the pedal to the metal & see how that shopping cart performs without worry that you could bump into a granny merely there to pay the prices she remembers from 1965 & not to burn rubber. The best location for racin' is the Tukwila one, Pacific Highway adjacent, now go off & have fun not being patient while you taste the greatness of Saar's All Star Savings Nation.. except for yogurt, that remains complacent & a disgraced take on savings they ought to be...
Read moreThis used to be an Albertsons ages ago, but then it closed up and became Super Savers. All the front windows are all covered up, and I think they still have signs from their "grand opening", which was, like, 6 years ago or something. The entire store is kinda dirty, and all of the displays and counters are used or second hand, but I love the place. They have a good enough grocery selection, and a great variety of Asian and Hispanic foods, and once in awhile will have Faygo in stock, too! The prices aren't as "rock bottom" as the signs in the store claim they are, but they aren't absurd, either. Super Savers has lots of cheap microwave noodles. Super Savers is now open 24 hours a day, which leaves me feeling concerned for the single dude they have manning the registers late at night, because at 2 in the morning you got no idea who's gonna be coming in. I love Super Savers, but if you aren't from White Center or Burien, the place is gonna...
