This complaint is in regards to the Store Manager Maria at the Staples in Indiana, PA.
My mother went in on Friday February 15, 2019.
A big store in a small town should consider every customer extremely important. Policies are always important but bending them to help a 60 plus woman is not a significant enough to cause drama.
The story:
My mother and father (76 years old) came to your store and have been customers for almost 30 years; relationships have been built to the extent of my mom calling some employees “my son/daughter”. My mom asked if an employee (my mother knows well) can put together a small corner table. The employee said he would; an additional charge was assessed and accepted. As the employee was taking the item to the back to assemble, Maria intervened and to basically say YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF THIS EXTRA ASSISTANCE. The situation escalated to a point where my mother had to be consoled by the female employees in the restroom where they shared that Maria is mean but they are afraid to speak up.
Now, in the aging town of Indiana, PA. I recommend focusing on doing what’s best for your customers. Walmart next door seems to understand that. You just lost a high school teacher (younger brother), TWO university professors (older brother and father), and a project manager (myself) from your customer base.
When I spoke to Maria yesterday, she said she would apologize to my mother but REFUSED to a point where she hung up when I requested her District Managers name. I let her know that she is making this very difficult and I will ensure to escalate.
With the power of social media and a few re-shares, I was able to find the district managers name in the Pittsburgh area on Linked in. I sent Tesh Desai a message detailing him the incident yesterday evening, 2/16/19.
I will ensure management in the Pittsburgh area are aware of the poor misconduct Maria has presented not only to her customers, but also employees.

Read moreI found the overall to be very rude. They very rude to my wife, because she said she was not going to pay more then 300$ for a laptop. After this was the manager was very dismissive of us. To the point that she turned away from us and started talking to another employee. I went to look for a mouse for my computer I asked plain and simply if they had any of the clearance ones and the back the man who took me to see these was very dismissive also. I had to ask another employee in the back of the store to see if they had any of the ones that were on clearance he was kind enough to go check for me. The management at the store is very unprofessional I do not...
Read moreWe felt the need to share a very good experience we had at the store this morning. For a Christmas gift we wanted to get calenders made for relatives. We pre shopped Friday and the representative told us to come back with pictures on a flash drive and it would be quick and easy. So went back Saturday morning to find out with absenteeism the rep was not there. Gretchen had not done that task before but said she could figure it out. Not only did she, but she went above and beyond! Gretchen was kind, patience and professional. She was awesome to work with and really helped us out. A very good employee and should be acknowledged for the work she does. Thank...
