Let me start by saying that I really like how big and the variety of products the store has. I have been a customer since the store open and I enjoy shopping there with the sales on produce they have. I usually visit Aldi’s, Walmart, Sams’ and Sprouts too for my grocery shopping including produce.
I had not had an issue until today 7/24/21 when I returned a yuca root that I have purchased there 7/23/21. I paid them five dollars and cents with the promise of a good product, well the yucca root was not good and the deal was not so much about five dollars, but that I felt taken advantaged by not obtaining a quality product for my money. Those five dollars translate to minutes of my life spent at a job to pay for that yucca root, so I went and asked for a refund. I have already made my soup and I had no use for any more yucca. I was informed by the cashier that yucca, watermelons, and other produce were non refundable. I asked to speak with the manager, and a young gentleman came and told me that those “asian produce” including yucca root were non refundable because they looked good on the outside, so the store was not refunding for those products. I went ahead and as a customer gave him my feedback about other stores that I had experienced and I told him that if I ever bought at Walmart, Sams, Aldi’s, Sprouts and I returned a product that was just rotten or bad when I opened it, I could just take it to them and they very kindly with no issue what so ever would issue a refund or exchanged. The gentleman went ahead and brush me off and said “well we are issuing you a refund” in a way like he was doing me a favor. No that was not a favor, the store took my money and I was promised a good product, the store issue no good product so that entitles me to a refund.
Now, as a consumer I have made the decision that I will purchase my produce at store that have integrity with their products and stand behind the quality of their products. I am a little disappointed that minorities want to screw up minorities and take such an attitude about something that is such an opportunity to show great customer service. I visit the store because they offer good prices, but also because I love to support my community and local stores, but this kind of attitude makes it easier for consumers to keep their business with the big chain stores that offer a better customer service and stand behind the quality of...
Read moreIt took me a while to decide to write this review because I hate the idea of bringing more negativity into the world - but this experience isn't sitting well with me, and if I can help prevent it from happening to other customers, then I'm going to try:
Please be sure to check expiration dates. I ended up with a canned product that was 7 months out of date.
Please make sure your sale-priced item actually is on sale - even if there's an entire row of an item marked with a sale tag, the manager Gladis will try to gaslight you into thinking it's YOUR fault you got ripped off because YOU didn't cross-check the barcode numbers with the microscopic numbers on the sale tag. She will then try to blame the "new stock boy" for not knowing any better and putting the tag on the wrong product. Afterwards, she will do nothing to correct the issue - simply leaving the products mislabeled so that it can happen over and over again to other people, hoping that they don't check their receipts like I did.
I understand that mistakes happen, and that's not what I'm upset about. What bothers me is how out of her way she went to try to make me feel like it was MY FAULT I was misled and overcharged instead of owning up to their sloppiness. Coming from a customer service background, I find these practices to be shameful and gross. I don't necessarily plan on stopping being a customer entirely since I've had nothing but positive experiences at both locations in the past (and it's not everyone else's fault that this particular manager is inadequate), but I will ABSOLUTELY be avoiding any and all future...
Read moreSome parts I would give 5 stars. As to their customer service it's definitely a one or two stars. Cashiers rather talk to each other than interact with the customer. Then get annoyed when receiving payment. We've only had two friendly cashiers. Love the selection but they still have much to fill. We go every week to stock on meat. Meat department needs to work on some of their cuts. Cuts aren't always uniform and too many sharp boney pieces. Can be difficult to get attended. When we you buy too much meat you may get an annoyed worker, not always. Bread needs to be labeled. I don't know what's what. Then when you go to pay you get charged different and cashier gets upset with you and reclaims that you were trying to be sneaky. Last weekend we decided to get food from the kitchen. Took close to 10 minutes to get attended. Only one person ahead of us. She was a worker and had 3 kitchen staff attending her. When we finally got attended they were annoyed. Again no labels so we inquired about items and prices. Very rude responses When we finally had to pay she left us mid transaction because the person before us came and said they forgot her drink and tortillas and how was she expected to eat. We were left mid transaction. Waited 5 minutes for her to return and finish transaction. The specials are good. So we will continue to return until something else comes up but we are dissatisfied with the...
