Dear Mr. Bauer, My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting your fine automobile business in Matteson on Saturday, August 31st (2020). We had prearranged an appointment with Alvia and was redirected to a very nice sales representative with the name James. He is relatively new to your dealership, however he is very knowledgeable about the Cadillac line of automobiles. We had driven from Ladd, Illinois to view and hopefully purchase a specific car. Everything was going well and we had reached an agreement (on price) to purchase a 2017 Cadillac XT5 through both James and your facility management. With trade, partial cash and partial financing, we were directed to your financing representative where we began the arduous signature process.
During this purchase and with all my appreciation to my wife, she noticed the loan amount was in excess of $18,000, when we were borrowing $12,000. Your finance representative denied any knowledge of the discrepancy and we never saw him again. Our sales representative (James) returned to the finance office and inquired about the nature of the problem. We reaffirmed both the sale price and the discrepancy with him. He left us to review with your management only to return without an answer. At this point, he tried to direct my attention to various other cars in your dealership. Not exactly what we wanted to hear as the anger and disappointment developed. He made additional contacts, presumably with his supervisor and returned without any explanation.
In addition to our disappointment over losing the opportunity, I left without being offered the chance to speak with anyone in management and couldn’t help but wonder if this inaccurate accounting was intentional. Intentional would suggest criminal and I know you would never allow something of this nature. I also have a deep concern that other customers may have unknowingly signed their loan agreements without sufficiently reviewing the loan amount. Let the buyer beware. In closing, I am not asking for, or expecting anything as a result of this terrible experience. I met one of your classmates who assured me that, had you been aware; you would never have allowed this to happen. You simply need to know.
Respectfully...
Read moreI purchased a truck on Saturday November 18th at the dealership. I have been watching the truck online for several weeks. The price shown on the internet was $61,000 and some change. That was what I expected when I flew to Chicago from St. Louis, and took an hour long cab ride (for which I am to be reimbursed by the dealer, at least that's what they told me) only to find that the actual cost of the truck was $63,249. I'm not going to spend $300 on a plane ticket and then go elsewhere to buy, nor was I going to sit in the dealership and argue with the financial department over the additional cost. Even as I showed them the ad for the truck on my phone clearly showing the cost, I was told no, this (higher amount) is the cost of the truck. I had texted extensively and spoken to at least 3 different individuals at the dealer prior to coming up to purchase the truck and at no time was I informed that the cost would be different. I had a Costco membership $1,000 rebate and I had sure thought that with that in hand, I'd get the truck for $60,000, which was the advertised price less rebate. I'm not sure if this was a true bait and switch situation, but I wasn't really thrilled about the additional amount I'm paying for this vehicle.
I am sure this will go completely unnoticed by anyone in authority, but just so this much is clear: I have been driving Ford vehicles prior to this purchase of a 2023 GMC Sierra Elevation. I haven't had this type of financial surprise when I bought previous brand new vehicles. I love the truck but I'm disappointed in the pricing structure and how it was...
Read moreI followed the reviews here and I was very excited to work with Arnie Bauer Chevrolet, but was extremely disappointed. I called the dealership and let them know that I was out of state but they had exactly the vehicle I was looking for. I spoke with a salesman and told him directly that I was ready to purchase and was told he would send over the financial information and credit app so we could move forward. I waited and waited, never received a response until the end of the day when I got a text that he got very busy since he was "the only salesman" and would send over "first thing in the morning." I trusted his word and waited till 12:00 the next day to reach out and simply asked for an update on pricing. I received a text message 2 minutes later that the salesman I was working with got too busy and in the meantime, another salesman sold the vehicle. I mentioned previously that I had a personal GM employer discount, which I am assuming is why I was given the cold shoulder.
Actions like this are why people can't stand the buying process. I was ready to do whatever I needed to come pick this truck up and have everything ready to make it very easy on the dealership (a full days trip from where I live about 7 hours away). Super disappointing. I get if the vehicle sold but that kind of communication for someone who was about to spend $50K+ on a...
