Iโll predicate this by saying Iโm a fan of Biggers. I enjoy the whole atmosphere with the plants, produce, food and bev, and music.
I will continue to support Biggers but after my last visit I WILL NOT eat at the kitchen. To begin with, an order of fried green tomatoes was cold. Not just cooled off, frying oil hot on the outside and icy in the middle. Iโm not one to send food back but they just were not palatable. The guy taking orders knew exactly what the problem was when I walked up and said he had been dealing with it for some time. It happens, I get it. Thanks for replacing AND refunding my order. I can get past some improperly cooked tomatoes. No biggie.
While I was waiting for the replacement for my order, I watched the guy at the pick up window prepping meals. No less than four times did I see him handle food, check his phone, handle more food, take a customers food pager, check his phone, and so on. What is the point of wearing gloves if you touch everything anyways? If the food prep sanitation efforts are this lax in the customer facing areas of the kitchen, what corners are being cut elsewhere? This is pretty basic food prep sanitation safety that is being disregarded.
Again, happy to support Biggers, grab a beer while listening to music, maybe pick up a plant and some veggies, but Iโm thinking twice before I will eat at The...
ย ย ย Read moreFirst, let me say I am a long time customer of Biggers Market.
I always try to support local businesses, especially farmers. Most people who know me are familiar with the place in my heart occupied by farm workers.
Today, there was a sign posted advertising plants 50% off. I picked up a large pothos and went to checkout with my produce & the plant.
The employees at Biggers, including a young man from the office, refused to honor their posted sign, stating it was a mistake.
I understand that it is a mistake and the sign was removed while I was waiting for an answer. But, the refusal to a long time customerโs request does not help their customer service or image.
What does not honoring their sign, which amounted to selling a plant for 10.00, mean? There is a great farmerโs market at Tidal Creek on Saturdays, and other, smaller markets during the week at various places around town.
Tidal Creek, here I come! Biggers just lost a long time customer. I doubt it means anything to them though, since expansion continues, and the parking lots are packed.
Carolina Girls is having a sale on their plants. Iโll stop in to see what they have, and I will likely spend more than $10.00 at that locally...
ย ย ย Read moreLovely offerings and lots of variety. Nice place to sit with friends on the patio!Unfortunately we went for the first time ever Monday on Labor day 9/1 and decided to get the biggers bucket of hard peaches since weโve been looking for some everywhere. By Wednesday 9/2 we finally cut into some and they were spotted black on the inside and we found one fully black moldy peach at the bottom of the bucket. Attempted to call the market on the number listed in their FAQ got no reply and left a voicemail. Attempted to submit a contact us form on that same Wednesday still no reply we have pictures and wanted to just get a new bucket of peaches or a refund for the quality. I live out of state but my parents were too scared to turn up without being given the okay to swap them as they did not provide us with a physical receipt at the time of purchase and we thought it would come in our email when we did the tap to pay. Wish somebody would get back to us and reply. The peaches were taken outside of the house because my parents are immune compromised and cannot deal with the mold. They just want to eat some peaches. Will happily adjust review once somebody provides some...
