My order of two McKenzie bookcases is complete, and now I can share all the great experience I had during the ordering, making this purchase, waiting for delivery, and then shipping process by Unfinished Furniture. I called initially, before placing the order online, and Ripley Bryant was very patient and pleasant in walking me through the whole process, she explained step by step what and when to expect once I make the order. As soon as I placed my order I received an email with confirmation. The pleasant part about it was that it was personal and well detailed, not those type of automated generic acknowledgments, but specific to my order. Ripley wrote all possible little details, and still when I called to check, she was explaining nicely and professionally. My waiting time for the cabinets was quite long because of the backorders at the manufacturer (Whittier Wood Furniture), and during that time I communicated multiple times with the store by phone and emails, and the response was always prompt, answers very precise and clear. This store truly has an excellent customer service, they know what they sell in every little detail, and they make purchasing process very pleasant. I just wish more places would have such service and support for their clients. Great thanks to you Ripley, and all at Unfinished Furniture! I sincerely wish you success and good luck with your business! Alex...
Read moreThe short version: awesome customer service, solid furniture, reasonable prices!
The long version: we walked into this store without many expectations: tiny place compared to the other stores on the same street. But boy, are we glad we did walk in!
No hard sales, nothing pushy about any of it. They give you a great deal of options and you can go from fine crafted Amish (gorgeous, but priced accordingly) to simpler furniture. Here's the kick: the simpler items are solid, made to last, really cute and trendy, and SO much better than the Wayfair, Ashleys, and Overstocks of the world.
Then to service and pricing: Rod was phenomenal to work with. He is down to Earth, pay his people well, and yet doesn't gouge his customers. We worked in the retail industry for quite some time and must say: that is far from the norm. Kudos to his mindset!
We just got a coffee table and some accent tables. Since we are moving in a few months we are waiting until the dates allow us to play the timing correctly, but are certainly coming back to get the matching pieces for our living room, and a whole dining set!
It was a refreshing experience! We are coming back and highly recommend...
Read moreBecause we recently purchased a new house clear across the country, I left a few things behind because we just ran out of room in the truck, and I needed to replace them. I prefer unfinished furniture that I can really baby into looking fabulous with good stain and lots of elbow grease, but of course a lot depends on the quality of the wood and design you start with, and in that department, Unfinished Furniture of Wilmington is the best I have ever ordered, and I've ordered a lot in the last three months--two bookcases, two bathroom storage cabinets, and now, in the Mission style, a bedside table and a plant stand (that is, a bookcase with no back, and I'll hang plant lights in it for my orchids). Unfinished Furniture of Wilmington is heavy, I mean solid, the workmanship is just wonderful, and each piece is sanded right up to ready to stain, although of course I'll hit it with a 220 sanding sponge. And the price!! It's at least 25% less than I would pay elsewhere! And FREE SHIPPING, and FAST. Of course that may not last, but while it does, get busy and pick up a few things! Ridley will...
