My husband and I got married June 25, 2022 and decided to go with Jos A Banks for the entire groomsmen including himself. We had such a pleasant experience with the staff. The manager was the one who helped us originally. We made this our go to store. We are planning to go to a corporate gala event and just came into this store last Saturday, February 18th, and had a unpleasant experience. The lady at the front desk scolded my husband for trying on a jacket (the jacket he was going to rent most likely, and the same jacket the manager that helped us before told him to try on). She told him he was not allowed to try on the jackets. He said he was never told this before. She then asked what we needed and why we were there. He said we were just looking around. She continues to say--well this is a store for fancy events. We told her we are aware and had been to this store before. I advised her we rented 6 tuxedos for our wedding last june. She ignored me completely. She went on to ask my husband again, what he was there for and what kind of rental he wanted. She went on and on, just talking as if she was trying to confuse us about the different suits. We honestly had no idea what she was talking about. He told her he wanted to see what they had and take it from there. She continues again to talk and question us. And asked if he had ever been there before. I spoke up and told her that as I told her, already, we rented 6 tuxedos for our wedding here last June. She continued to ignore and question us. I finally just said "we are here to just look around, are we not allowed to do that?" She replied "I need to know what you are looking for." We finally walked away from her and as we were walking away she scuffed and said "wow." We found the manager and asked her if we were allowed to look around. The lady followed us to the manager (crazy!) and wanted to argue some more! I told the manager about our incident and the manager just walked away (?) ignoring the entire situation. My husband and I were so confused that we left the store. The manager was older with grey, long hair (never seen her before) and the girl that insulted us on many accounts had a foreign accent with shoulder length dark hair. This lady even tried to point us to the clearance section! I was extremely insulted. Let us forget she is working in a retail store and judging others (wow!), but we weren't even dressed down. I'm honestly just shocked at the treatment we got! Unfortunately, we will never be back because of her, unless we get a formal apology by this store. We called corporate and they said someone would be in touch. Nobody ever called back. This kind of treatment is uncalled for. We are sad, because we would have been using them for our anniversary wedding party that we plan to do...
Read moreI have just stopped by Joseph Banks in Winchester, Virginia. I have two jackets and a suit that need to be taken in. I have been on a diet and lost weight. The manager at Joseph Banks they told me about six months ago that if I had clothes that needed to be adjusted, even if they had not sold them to me, they would be able to handle that. My mom is going to pass away in the next couple of days and I have a suit that I purchased at Joseph Banks as well as two sport coats. When I went to the store, they told me that they could not do any alterations that the person that did that was only there on Monday and Friday. I understand those constraints for getting work done, however, when I inquired about whether or not, I could buy a jacket or a suit or pants today and they could measure it and have them altered for me to pick up after I purchase them she told me no, so all in all I basically was able to determine that you should not go there without having to make a return trip to get the alterations done if youâre going to buy a suit on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday because no one will be there to mark them for alterations and fitting. The other thing is Saturdays would not be available either. I was very disappointed as my mother is with hospice and not expected to live past this weekend. When I informed them of that, she said it wouldnât matter. It would still take two weeks they donât have any way to expedite that for someone who has to go to a funeral even though I originally purchased the clothes at the store. I have bought from Joseph Banks since I was in high school in 1978 but Iâm now considering not returning because it makes no sense to me why I would have to come And make a purchase on Tuesday through Thursday or Saturday and then have to come back again to get them fitted for altering before I could wear them. Some of the pants donât have a link already they have to be measured so that the tailor can make them the right length. But she very firmly told me no there was no one that could do that except on a Monday or Friday. Makes no sense why a menâs clothing store would not be able to fit the clothes that you would buy on most days and you would have to come back. She did say I could purchase the suit, but that I would have to come back on Friday or Monday to have them measured to fit. I am extremely disappointed and there was not even any place other than a customer who walked up and overheard me and suggested that I take them to another location and there is a very nice menâs clothing store underneath Kimberlyâs in downtown Winchester who has much nicer clothes and the manager there is the most accommodating Customer Service oriented person. I know in the industry...
Read moreHorrible experience...The first time I visited the store I was the ONLY person shopping. The assistance that day included getting measured for a sport coat, given the size 48, pointed in a direction and THAT WAS IT. The lady working failed to ask me any questions, fill me in with any sales information, or explain that I would probably have to order special because I would need an Extra Long. After going home and researching myself, I found what I needed in terms of sizing and available sport coats offered by Jos. A Bank. I returned to the store and once again was "blessed" with dealing with the same lazy employee. I had to pry information about sales out of her and was instructed to look online for something I liked, again with little help from someone who SHOULD be knowledgeable about the business she works in. Do not worry, the story keeps getting better... I eventually chose three sport coats and three dress shirts on that day. One of the sport coats was actually in stock at the store so I was measured that day for it to be tailored (was told it would take 2 weeks). I paid for my items and was informed that I would be contacted in a couple days when my other two jackets arrive so I could come in to have them tailored as well. After a week and a half, I had not received a call so I called them. To my "surprise" I was informed that the employee I have been dealing with had not ordered the two sport coats that I PAID for a week and a half ago. Once they finally arrived, two weeks after the original purchase, I went in to be measure so that they could be tailored. Was informed that day that I could pick up ALL three sport coats the next Tuesday ANYTIME after 5:00 PM. As you can probably guess, I was lied to again and when someone stopped into the store at 6:00 PM that night to pick up my sport coats, only one was finished. Let this be known, I do not blame Jos. A Bank for the mistakes and frustration caused, I only blame them for allowing the particular employee I dealt with to still have a job. That person did not just have a bad day, she made mistakes EVERY SINGLE time I...
