The fam was looking for a local restaurant to share an easy evening of up leveled dining and scored when we landed at Savour by Crush. We were greeted right away and seated at a comfortable table. Servers were polite as some of our party was a little behind schedule for our reservation. Once we all were seated we got filtered still water and I had a refreshing sparkling water and we all had a round of exceptionally well prepared adult beverages. Meanwhile, as we perused all the enticing menu items, there was a nice mixed assortment basket of bread from Knead Bread in Winchester accompanied by a very good compound butter. We were there in a Saturday night so there was a Prix Fixe menu that was very tempting but we all decided to order from the a la carte menu. We wanted to share some apps but there weren't any that really worked well for family style. So we got our a la carte apps and shared bitesies. The mushroom pasta was a perfect el dente and the mushroom ragout was good. Our chef salad had remarkably fresh lettuces and the toppings were well balanced. The goat cheese had to be from a local farm: it was so super creamy with a little tart freshness. Maybe a touch more dressing than is my preference. But key words there are "my preference". Salad was good. Entrees came one at a time so it was a little weird. Those who had food were urged by those waiting to go ahead and eat "while it's hot". The wait was just a short few minutes before we were all entranced. The steaks were cooked to the right temperature and came with the creamiest butteriest cheesiest au gratin potatoes. The fried chicken was perfect but that charred corn on the cob should've stayed in the kitchen. The duck was good. The skin did have a good crisp sear on the skin side but could've benefited from a minute longer so some of the fat could've rendered out a little. The duck breast meat was flavorful and tender and done to temperature. Somehow the duck seems a little bit on the small side. Maybe because it was so trimmed so neat and clean, maybe because it was sliced and fanned across the plate? IDK but nonetheless it disappeared pretty quickly. The pickled beets were flavored very well but they were just a little too soft (again my preference). Everyone was stuffed full, satiated and satisfied, but tradition urged us to forge ahead and splurge on the finishing touches. Who could say no Port wine, espresso, and chocolate (you know how it is on birthdays). Port was delicious, espresso was top of the line, the slice of chocolate torte was the most decadent. Overall: the service was satisfactory. More attention to check-ins and clearing the table would put that score in the upper ranges. The food was also satisfactory. The quality of product was top notch. The preparations are good but, (and I'm just being "Pro Chef picky" right now) perhaps a little less butter or oil or dressing and a little closer attention to the finer details. On the way out I stopped to chat with Chef Robert. He was very polite and made sure to call over his sous chef and line cook. It was just the three of them that pulled together their part of a satisfying evening out. In summary, I know this review might read a little harsh. It is not meant to be a negative critique. Overall they are just a few minor details away from top ratings. Savour by CRUSH has all the components, and the people, that make for an excellent celebration event venue. We had a very good time. I look forward to returning. Finally, if you haven't tried Savour by CRUSH, make a plan and make a reservation,...
Read moreThe ambiance is like a time travel to the late 1920's/1930's, from the beautiful art on the walls to the fabulous decorum. The dining area felt calm, elegant, and romantic. The staff was eager, kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. We especially loved the owners, who are very closely involved in the preparation and service of the food. They make you feel so welcomed and Tracey expresses her vast knowledge of wine with her somole background. The bartender is incredible! He provided some of the best drinks we have ever tasted! He's also award winning and rather good looking! I highly recommend getting the Grand Marshal or honestly ANY drinks on the cocktail list. The food I'd genuinely exceptional. I did not expect this level of attention and guest experience in the morsels that were served from Winchester, VA. The amusebush was delicate but held an intricate flavour combination. The breads were lovely, fresh, and held variety-but more enjoyably, paired beautifully with the compound butters. I could not chose a favorite, as each had its own distinctive and unique flavors that paired impeccably with the bread selection. The crab dish was shocking. Crab is usually such a rich and powerful flavor, however, not in this light and almost spring adjacent appetizer. I enjoyed the flavor profile and how beautifully they paired, though I must admit the beat salad was far superior in both flavor and complexity. The beet salad offered such layered flavor profiles, and I was surprised at how rich, creamy, and hearty this course was. It left me in awe, reveling in how much and yet distinctive the flavors were in every bite. The main course also delighted my pallet and Sent me to an island paradise as my scallops were seared and crusted to perfection and plated with a creamy flavorful avocado sauce;each bite a flawless smooth experience. The carrots of this meal also were lovely. The risotto and mushrooms had a nice flavor, the mushrooms an enticing sear and crisp to them that provided an extension to the risotto. Lastly, the chocolate bar dessert was heavenly if you enjoy a darker chocolate. It melted into the mouth encapsulating my tongue and bringing about a plethora of flavors when utilizing the caramelized nuts, fruit, and coconut drizzle upon the plate in each bite. The lemon possett was perfectly set, gingerly laid in an eggshell and possessed a balanced sweet and tart flavor. I highly recommend providing yourself and your partner this opportunity of...
Read moreMy wife and I had been looking to visit savour since they opened last year! We finally had the pleasure of indulging last night and boy are we kicking ourselves for waiting so long! Every dish was amazing. Like I told Marshall, “my taste buds didn’t stopped singing the whole night!”
The steak and street corn was absolutely to die for. My wife tried duck for the first time and has fallen in love! Although I’m sure anywhere we go won’t even come close to this experience.
I highly recommend trying the hickory sour! It’s a mocktail but I asked to add a shot of whiskey and it was the most delicious drink I’ve had my entire life.
I wish I would have taken pictures of each of our courses, but we couldn’t hold back! Each course smelled and tasted so good. The portion sizes were so much bigger than I was expecting and I had to undo my belt when we left so I could breathe right lol.
The staff were so friendly and their personalities make you feel so comfortable and welcomed. It’s like classy, high-end, delicious food and experience meets small town personality. They even had conversations cards on the table that were so cute and invoked so much good conversation. We will definitely...
