I'll start off that this little store has a HUGE variety of games for nearly every console. That is the only reason why this store gets the one star.
What wasn't so great? My husband and I stopped in there a few days ago to check things out (my first time there, he hadn't been there in multiple years). I had been looking for a specific PS4 game, didn't see it on the shelf, we asked if they had it or would know of someone that does. When they heard the name of the game we were looking for, the immediate response was "gosh, why is this game so popular lately?!?" "You're the second/third person to ask for this game in the last couple weeks/months... I gotta check and see what's going on with this game" (literally like that, almost like it was a scripted blanket response to the question, no matter what the game was). Long story short, they did have the game, two copies in fact (behind the counter), marked $19.99...
Great, right?
Well, that's when he decides after checking online to see "what the deal with this game was" while my husband was up there waiting awkwardly (I was browsing the store). He upped the price to $24.99... like he literally put the higher priced sticker overtop the other one, not mentioning anything about why he changed the price... What kind of bullsh*t is that?? (I found this out after he paid for the game and we left, if I had known what the guy really did I DEFINITELY would not have bought it, just out of principle).
Just for context, this game came out in 2018 (hence the already marked $19.99 price)... No sequels, no resurgence in popularity (we checked) just a game that I personally have on Steam that I want to play on console.
So, if you're interested in getting hustled right in front of your face, by all means, enjoy... Personally, I'd avoid this place at all costs. I think the lack of parking alone should have been enough of an omen to...
Read moreThe pricing of the used games left much to be desired. While the store boasted a wide array of retro games, the absence of visible prices on these items significantly impacted my overall experience and led to my lower rating.
The lady and her dog, who I presume are part of the staff, were delightful and added a positive touch to the atmosphere. On the other hand, the gentleman I assumed to be the owner remained rather taciturn. His focus on a disassembled Nintendo Wii with parts scattered around the register made the checkout process awkward. I couldn't help but feel that a designated workbench in the back would have been more appropriate.
The main reason behind my 2-star rating is the store's pricing strategy, reminiscent of an eBay store, which personally, I find disfavorable. Notably, there were no clear prices displayed on gaming consoles or items around the cases. This lack of transparency became particularly frustrating when inquiring about the cost of items. Each time I asked, the owner would consult eBay and quote a high price. There were also instances where he seemed unwilling to part with certain items.
For example, when inquiring about a Gameboy Color yo-yo, the owner couldn't find a satisfactory eBay price and arbitrarily quoted $50, which I found unreasonable. While I had the intention to purchase more items, the reliance on eBay prices deterred me. If I wanted to pay eBay prices, I reasoned, I could simply use eBay.
In conclusion, my advice to others considering this store is, if they adopt an eBay pricing approach, it might be wise to check eBay first before making purchases. While the store's collection of retro games is enticing, the pricing strategy and lack of clear information on item costs affected my overall satisfaction and willingness to make...
Read moreI'd give a zero if I could. Brought in my iPhone for a screen replacement cause it went black. The counter attendant first said it would take 45mins to an hr. 1 1/2 goes by, I call and they said well the first screen we put on had lines in it so we went ahead and put a black screen on it instead of a white. First off they did it without asking me. Any ways I pick it up and pay over $100. Within 3 hours the screen starts flickering. So I bring it in the next day and I'm told well we can order in new screens but it will take 3-4 days to get them. So I said ok and waited to bring my phone in. Now all the screens the just ordered in were brand new right? Well now it's been 2 1/2 hrs.. so I call, " well we tried 3 screens and they all are acting up... and it's still flickering but more then likely will go away" so I go to pick my phone up... I press the power button and now it says "Touch ID disabled!" So I'm like what is this? He acted dumbfounded and said oh ahhh um idk? So first off he was gonna let me walk out without telling me he broke my phone. The Touch ID does not work at all anymore. I've never had problems with it before. So I ask him why the screen is still flickering? He said well I ordered the cheaper screans..."really? So you didn't tell me this before screwing around with my phone" he offered to put the original old screen on and refund my money although he broke my home button. I have never been so un satisfied with a business and would never recommend this place. He blatantly said, " we tend to buy the cheaper screens" but yet you charge over $100? I'm incredibly upset with the business. And warn anyone who goes there to have a cell phone fixed. Especially if it's an iPhone. I'll never...
