I've been shopping here for the last 3 years. In the past 2 years they remodeled the store in preparation for their main German competitor, Lidl, who recently came to town. I tried both and will stick with Aldi. They have a slightl'y smaller selection than Lidl, but there prices are also lower for the same products that both do carry. I reduced my bi-weekly grocery shopping expenses for a household of my wife and I, from $280 in total at Wal-Mart, to $100 at Aldi & $80 at Wal-Mart. The $80 I spend at Wal-mart are generally things like brand cleaning supplies, detergents, pet supplies, personal toiletries & deli meats/cheeses. To be honest, the recent remodel has brought in a ton of new business. My guess, and my personal feeling is because the store looks up to par, no longer like your shopping in some sort of lower class warehouse (which I didn't really care about, as long as I got my savings, but I did get the feeling when I walked in). The new remodel has has bright lights, nice shelving, state of the art coolers, and a doesn't give off the "I'm shopping here because I'm poor" feeling, but rather it feels like "I just don't care for name brands and like saving money feel" now. Well worth it, worth a shot to reduce at least 30% off your grocery bill. Make sure to purchase your own re-usable bags and bring an actual quarter, that's given back to you, so you can use a shopping cart so you are not walking around the store with a cardboard box stuffed...
Read moreThe cashier I had was extremely rude to me when I asked her where the personal shopping bags are that you buy and pack your stuff in. I don’t want to mention her name, with all due respect and consideration that she might have had a bad day going. Anyway I was trying to look around for the bags while I was shopping, but they weren’t hanging on a shelf anywhere, that should have their own display in a much more open spot. I would have been satisfied with my experience if she was being friendly and just seemed to acknowledge me with some sort of compassion (she didn’t even have to ask I wanted a shopping bag to have a good experience), but she really didn’t look like she wanted to with anybody I told her that I was new to Aldi and just explained that I wanted a bag, but she didn’t want to acknowledge until I’ve paid for my groceries, which really made me feel sad. I wanted to ask an associate if all of Aldi’s Fruits are Organic because I’ve heard that they are, but I was looking around for any associate to and couldn’t find anyone because everyone they were busy and looked like they were in a bad mood as well. I decided to give this review 2 stars instead of 1 because I offered to the police officer 25 cents for someone giving me the cart for free instead of paying for it and he said it’s all good. The other part of the 2 stars for the review is for...
Read moreSince this is the first time I shopped here, I had to learn how to do it. Picking your products is just like doing it at any grocery store. Where it is a different experience is checking out, obtaining a shopping cart, and diversity of product types and brands.. I had to pay $0.25 for a shopping cart. Not that it is expensive but it was different from other stores. While selecting products it is apparent the selections are fewer than competing grocers. So, you have to pick what is offered. Sometimes that is OK, because it gives you another product to evaluate for suitability to your taste. Many brands I have never heard of. Again, this is not a show stopper. While checking out, the speed of the cashiers is impressive. Much faster than the competition. Why? They don't have to take time to bag your products. You do that. Note, that if you forget to bring bags or boxes, they will gladly provide bags for a cost per bag. So, you are checked out much more quickly but you burn your time packing your products. You may think all this is negative, but it is not. It is simply a different, and more cost effective business process. When I really grinned from ear to ear was when it was time to pay. The cost of my purchased items was significantly less. Now that alone will keep me coming back over and over. Try it! ...
