As you can see, we were exited to see a movie together and have a date night. I had a water bottle in my purse as I had weight loss surgery and cannot have sugary drinks. I'm also not paying $6 for a 20oz water. I was told they had to check my bag for weapons and/or outside food. I told the guy I definitely had a drink and I was advised I couldn't bring it in. Okay, fine. We took it back to the car. I remember last time, I was allowed a free water cup, so I asked for one. I was told I could have a cup of ice for free but if I was given water, I would be charged for a large drink (and couldn't even get it in a large drink cup, this is for the small plastic cup mind you). How can you give a free cup of ice but you can't put fountain water in it? Even Taco Bell gives people free water! If you cannot allow people to bring in at least water, it should be provided. We spent $45 for two tickets and $27 for nachos, a soda for my husband and popcorn. Yet, you can't put fountain water in my cup nor allow me to bring in a water...I could buy a ticket to Carowinds for the amount of money that was spent to see a movie. Next time, I'll go to my local movie theater or AMC down the road where they're not as particular about these kinds of things. Oh, and they have a water fountain...the staff could have advised I could just fill my cup up there at the Mono/bacteria infested fountain. The Grand will be my last choice from now on. And yes, this upset me enough never to spend another dollar there. And no, they're not obligated to provide free water, I get that. But as someone that's always suppose to be drinking water and stays dehydrated, the business should allow people to bring it in or at least not price gouge on water, at minimum, if water cups can't...
Read moreVery confused as to why a major theater has not yet invested in updating their payment solutions to a modern standard. “We play films in the most innovative and technological resolutions available in 2023…..but we need only cash or card at the register (like it’s 1998).” I came to this theater, one I have visited over 25 times and bought more than 100 tickets according to Fandango (for me and my friends) and for months I’ve been told when I go to pay the outlandish overprice cost of concessions that, I can be expected to pay 300% the average cost of a bottle of water but this institution can’t be expected to update their POS software & hardware in order to accept Apple Pay. As a community member who works in banking and payment solutions let me assist, since Luther and Anthony at the location can only tell me what they “can’t do” here’s what you “can do”. Call your merchant services provider and inform them it’s time to update your solutions to accept digital wallet/digital cards such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and more. You pay for that upgrade with a minor, miniscule amount of money you’ve made form overcharging for popcorn and candy bars for years, or maybe I too can just watch my movies at home. Movie Theaters can continue to hate home-streaming providers and the shift in entertainment consumption ORRRR they can consider how to make the experience WORTH coming to the theater for. Guess what I get at home? Options on how to watch and pay for my movies. 1 star - for thinking you deserve to obtain my money in 2023 for a service, but not spend hours to make the...
Read moreUnfortunately this theater has a corporate structure that hasn’t set their employees up to hold to rules as well as exercising judgment and good customer service to know when to make an exception to the rules. One of my children has food sensitivities that directly effect their skin and they aren’t able to have any of the snacks at the movie theater. The staff member and the manager were unwilling to compromise their rule and wanted me to have my one child share one small snack with their two siblings instead of allowing me to bring in a small snack for each of them. They said it was a new policy and were unwilling to show any compassion or compromise. They would also not allow me to bring in my large water bottle (which I explained was only because I had a cold and didn’t want to cough in the theater) which I would understand if they had self serve drinks but they didn’t, drinks are only available from behind the concession counter. We missed the beginning of the movie because of my discussion with the manager and then we walked into to theater only to find that the theater had double booked tickets so there were people in our seats that also had payed for those seats. We thankfully found other clear seats. The bathrooms also had toilet paper all over the floor and smelled terribly. Ultimately, the manager was very young and while I don’t expect him to understand the tricky dynamics of having a child with food sensitivities along with a child that doesn’t I did expect better customer service and to be treated with...
