Up until just now, I have had wonderful experiences at Style Encore. I am a buyer only. Not a seller. Today I encountered what I can only describe as the most dreadful customer service I have ever experienced.
Ten days ago, after I purchased several items and realized two wouldn’t work for me after all, I called to ask if I could return these items upon return from a long work trip (normally returns are within a week). I was told absolutely. no problem. All was well.
I walked in today, ten days later, at around 7:40 pm happy as a clam after having a great day. I live over 20 miles away so it is not easy to just pop into the store but I made a point not to delay the return after my trip.
A young woman who I’ve seen many times before (Emma, I believe) was helping me with the return. She asked for my name and phone number on a piece of paper for the return so she could enter it into the system. I was confused as to why a phone number was needed and said I really preferred not to give it out. I also don’t collect points there or anywhere else where a phone number is required to do so. The young woman (Emma?) was very friendly about it but said it was just the system.
Just then another woman with long blonde highlighted hair walked up with a level of arrogance I’ve rarely ever seen. She said “what is the problem” in an angry tone and said “Why do you have to have such an attitude??! We are doing you a favor returning this late. This is our system and we need your phone number. So,do you want to make the return or not??”
Wow.
I’m not sure who this was as I had never seen her before. It was extremely uncalled for, unacceptable behavior that not only lacked customer service, empathy and grace — it lacked humanity.
I have bought many things at Style Encore these past few years and have never returned anything until today so I have never seen or heard of requiring a phone number for a return.
Despite all my positive experiences so far, I won’t be returning to...
Read moreEvery experience at this store has been "disappointing" to say the least. First of all, I didn't appreciate being "watched" and followed around the store as if I was going to steal something. Then on top of that, I look around and their are some nice quality high end items to purchase and that's all I would bring to attempt to sell to them. However, it was the same "scripted" excuse was that the items must be clean, no stains, gently worn, etc. Why would I bring items like that to sell? That was an "insult" to my character. I mostly wear name brand and high end clothes that the items that they sell in the store in which they "jack up" the retail sell value on the items I get that they're in the business to make a "profit". But stop it, I brought a basket full of mostly name brand items, some of them barely worn because I gained some weight and some of them still had the tags on them. But, the "lame" excuse is the items are not the "current" style. What the world? the staff needs some coaching and training on what "style" is because the items that I bring in are just as nice and the same quality as some of the items that they are selling. But, they always want to nickel and dime me and get over on what they will buy! I really think they don't even go through all your items when you have a large amount of items cause the text that you receive that your "buy" is ready sometimes is too soon. So, there is not way that my items were thoroughly examined and looked at. This company is a parent company to other companies so they can tell if you frequent their other stores connected to them. So they quickly make the decision to only give me "$9 for a pair of designer shoes from Dillard's and (2) other items. Those MSRP of that pair of shoes right now would probably be around $70-$80. This place is "ridiculous" and I would not recommend them to anyone that I know or that I...
Read moreThis has become one of my favorite stores besides the one in Greensboro and in Myrtle Beach just because of the better quality clothing even though the prices are a little higher. I still love going to the style encore in Winston Salem even though recently I brought in a few items that I didn’t try on that I had bought from them a little over a week ago, so instead of getting a refund or returning them I just decided to sell them back even though I knew I was losing money so I go into the store have a pair of Jack Rogers flip-flops that haven’t been worn from their store also 2 different blouses and a dress that were never worn since I’ve taken them out of their store then I go to sell them back to them and they say the conditions are too bad or they’re not taking that kind of brand which makes no sense because I just bought the stuff less than a week ago and now they won’t even take it back I just find that humiliating they’ll sell the stuff and then when you try to sell it back to them and you’re losing money they say it’s not good enough quality or it’s worn out well you sold me those worn out Jack Rogers sandals and they ended up being too big never worn outside of the store and when I bring them back won’t take them back to sell. Just blows my mind. This is it gonna stop me from shopping there but I’m definitely gonna learn my lesson to make sure I try on every single thing but the brands that they say they won’t take back that are most expensive one of the blouses was a Lily pullets her and the other one was a J.Crew and then the dress was express and they have numerous items in that store but the point is I never wore them after I bought them from the store and then I still wouldn’t take them back. I would love to hear an explanation for that I even still had the stickers on the back of the flip-flops so you could tell they had not...
