Some of the most scenic golf you will ever play.

Fairly unassuming course from when you first pull in and see the first fairway. The pro shop is small and simple, the staff courteous and helpful. Greens fees are reasonable.

The views from the #2 green, #3 tee, #3 green, and #4 tee are some of the best in golf, anywhere at any price. You overlook the Mt. Desert narrows and then Mount Desert itself. You can see lobster boats coming and going getting their traps. Honestly, it's pretty hard to not be distracted by the scenery!

The course plays well, has a much older feel to it. The fairways can be dry in spots and wet in others. The greens are in very good shape. Sand in the traps is a more coarse type you usually find in New England sand traps. In the half dozen times I've played here, I've never had to wait on any hole. Pace of play is pretty quick, playing 9 as a single took an hour and a half the last time.

Cons. The fairways...I don’t even call it a fairway. Even if you hit a hood shot, you can lose your ball on the fairway. You’re better off walking vs riding a cart because it feels like you are in the moon or mars. No signs on each tee box. We followed a golfer who grabbed his golf gear from the parking lot and started on hole # 6 thinking it was hole #1 and the yardage in our score card does not match because there are no signs which hole your are playing.

Bottom line: our family always squeeze in a round of golf when we go on vacation. So far this will be at the bottom...

An absolute gem of an old school, challenging, shotmaker's golf course that simply exudes traditional golf feel and style. I played it "down" for the round and enjoyed every moment, including the wonderful tee boxes. I loved that it wasn't a perfectly manicured, resort - style course and that it was coastal Maine at its natural, spectacular best. Great layout, breathtaking views, classic clubhouse (and pro shop) and super friendly people. Reminded me again of why I choose to live in Maine.........the way life should be. I will...
