We had an excellent experience with Downeaster this weekend! My husband and I were camping at Schoodic Woods in Acadia National Park. The location is only a 7 minute drive from the National Park which makes it a easy stop on the way in or out. I don’t drink coffee and am always happy when a shop has tea of some sort but this place blew it out of the water with their non-coffee offerings. I don’t remember the name of the drink I got but you choose a flavor which were different fruit options and I was able to choose a base with multiple options (water, lemonade, green tea, or black tea) I choose cherry flavor and green tea base and loved it! Such an excellent drink! My husband got an iced coffee and was also very impressed with his drink and said it was well made. Their food offerings were good too especially compared to the other shops in the area. We got the egg, cheese and ham breakfast sandwich but removed the egg and they discounted the sandwich because of it! Overall really impressed and we were so sad to find out they are closed Sundays and Mondays which were the last two days of our trip. Highly recommend for coffee lovers and haters alike!

If traveling or staying in the schoodic area this is a must stop for breakfast or a good coffee fix. Great small cafe in town a minute from the main road way around to the park. Service and ambiance was good. You can also buy other small items. I had a blueberry scone and iced latte with half and half. Iced latte was excellent. Blueberry scone was good if you like cinnamon in your scone so it was good just surprised to have cinnamon and not my preference but still good. They are offering some good quality items in this more remote area of the Acadia park area.

Downeaster was exactly what we needed before our day of biking in Acadia. We got an Americano, latte, and breakfast sandwich bagel with egg sausage and cheese. Very good! The inside had little curios for sale and bonus - they were pet friendly! We saw many cute dogs and accessories for dogs. They had local art, trinkets, cups, and more for sale. Service was good, they were working hard to crank out orders. The seating was limited, we snagged a table outside, but there are very few. It’s in a very cute location on the main road - highly recommended!

Very disappointed in this place. I walked in at 12:35 P.M. with my family after a long day of hiking. We were hoping to support a small business and grab some lunch with the kids. Right away, there was no greeting or warm welcome, which already set a negative tone.

Online, it looked like they offered breakfast sandwiches and bagels (though the lack of a visible menu should’ve been my first warning). The place itself looked very cute when we walked in, and we were checking out the options, trying to decide what to order.

Just as we were about to place our order, the person at the counter, who wasn’t particularly friendly, told us they don’t serve food past 12:30. It was literally 12:35, and the place was completely empty. I’m not sure why a five-minute exception couldn’t be made, especially when no one else was even there.

There was no sign posted anywhere saying food stops at 12:30, and the café itself doesn’t close until 2:00 P.M., so I genuinely don’t understand why they wouldn’t serve us. It felt unwelcoming and rigid for no good reason. So, I took my $75 lunch order down the street to another spot that was happy to have our business. I hope this place is able to improve their service and communication, but unfortunately, I won’t...

I ordered a large, black, dark roast. I was told it would be a minute. No problem, was a little busy (5 people in there) so that's cool. While I was waiting, people left with their orders. Some people arrived after me and ordered sandwiches and drinks. They got their orders. I'm 20 minutes in and still waiting for my coffee. I finally got somebody's attention and they asked if I needed anything . . . I told her that I bought a coffee a while ago and was still waiting. All this time I thought maybe this place was fancy or something and was grinding and brewing coffee to ordered. I even got myself psyched up for possibly the best dang dark roadt coffee I'll ever have! NOPE. Turns out that all the 5 star reviews don't leave you immune to brief periods of ineptitude. They straight dropped the ball and never made it. Also, it ended up being very mediocre coffee out of an urn, certainly nothing special. I guess if you go here, just manage your expectations. The scones looked...
