Winter Harbor Co-Op - Lobster — Local services in Winter Harbor

While visiting Winter Harbor, we were craving a lobster roll. We looked up places serving this delicacy and found that the Winter Harbor Lobster Co-op was highly rated. A Lobster Roll with a bag of chips was $25. We waited about 10 minutes for the lady at the counter to make the lobster rolls to order. At first glance, I could tell they didn’t look like your traditional lobster roll. Instead of a light and airy toasted roll brimming with lobster, we got a cold and bulky hot dog bun with the lobster thinly arranged to accommodate the extra-long bun, designed for extra-long frankfurters. Nothing was appealing about the way they looked. The lobster was fresh and tasted great, but it was disappointing with the cold, dry bun.

New England-style rolls are traditionally used for Lobster Rolls, and a good reason. The combination of extra butter and milk powder creates that light, chewy, and fluffy texture that, quite frankly, lobster roll fans crave. Adding butter to the outside of the bun and lightly toasting it for an enhanced buttery flavor and soft crunch pairs well with the lobster meat. You don’t want to use a run-of-the-mill, cold hot dog bun because it overpowers the delicate lobster instead of accentuating it. If you pay $25 for this delicacy, you want the best possible experience. Lunch for two was $50 and fell short of our expectations of what we have come to expect when ordering this...

EXCELLENT lobster and delivery! They notified me a few days before my lobster shipment to let me know that Saturday delivery was not available where I live. When I called to make other arrangements, the person answering the phone was aware of the issue, and it was promptly resolved. Service with a smile!
