This review will be long because I believe it is important to detail the events leading up to this very poor review. This vet office was recommended by a friend. My cat is a senior about 12-14 yrs old (not sure since he was a rescue). I called on Wed, May 29th and explained to the receptionist that my cat was a senior, history of urinary tract issues, and currently exhibiting no symptoms of urinary tract problems. I explained that I would like to have a urinalysis to see if he has any crystals because I was going out of town and wanted to be proactive in any treatment I may need to do. She said she understood and made the appointment on Sat, June 1 at 10 am. She instructed me to remove the food and water at bedtime Friday night so that Sat morning the blood sample would not be a āfattyā sample. I questioned her because removing water from a cat with a history of urinary problems is not the best advice. On Sat, I waited about 20-25 minutes to be called into the examining room. My cat was scared and breathing more heavily than normal. A tech came in and checked his temperature and weight and exited. A few minutes later a male tech came in and attempted to take my catās weight and temperature. I told him that it was already done. He exited and the dr. and the male tech arrived a few minutes later. I explained that my cat was not sick and I was only there to have a urinalysis taken to see if he has any crystals forming. She examined him and said that he must have went to the bathroom before the visit because his bladder was empty. I told her what her receptionist told me and she said that was incorrect information and only needed to be done for surgery. I was livid because I my cat was traumatized for no reason. She said that I must have called another vet and said I could try to get a sample at home but it needed to be refrigerated and dropped off within 24 hrs. The dr. was so matter of fact and uncaring. At this point, I was in tears. She offered no apology and continued to say I called the wrong office. I left the examining room and while paying, I told the same receptionist I spoke to on Wed. that because of her advice, I stressed my cat for no reason since the dr. couldnāt not get a urine sample. The male tech made a negative comment to me about whether or not I was going to get the sample at home. I paid and went to the car. As I sat the car crying, I felt that I shouldnāt have paid since I would not have been there except for wanting the urinalysis. I called (instead of walking back in) and told the receptionist that I didnāt feel I should have pay since the information she gave me caused the visit to be non-productive. She said she would have to talk to the dr. and the dr. would call me. There was no call on Sat. so I called on Mon June 3. The receptionist said the dr. has my catās file and will be calling me. I called again on Wed June 5 and was told that the note to call me was still in the dr.ās mailbox. I called again on Mon June 10th and was told by the receptionist that a letter was mailed on Fri June 7th. I thought that sending a letter was very unprofessional. It is quite disturbing that the dr. didnāt have the courtesy to call me about my negative visit and concerns. So I waited for the letter before writing this review. I finally received the letter on Tue. June 18th, which was postmarked on June 15 (not on June 7th when I was told it was mailed.) The letter was dated June 7th which means it laid in the office until the 15th. And to be a further insult to me, was the fact that the letter was written and signed by the business manager not the dr. She said that the dr. was sorry about me being unhappy (but not enough to talk to me) and because my cat was examined, I was not going to get a refund of the visit. It seems like 38.00 is more important to Mayfair Animal Hospital than a potential long term client. I would and will never recommend this office and I caution current and future clients to question the instructions given to you by the receptionists because our babies lives are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Saturday, July 1, 2017, I called at approximately 12:30 to ask if they had my dog's medication ready to pick up and I was told it was. I was told that I could pick up the medication today as long as I arrived before they closed at 1:00pm. I had to change my baby's diaper before leaving so I was running late but arrived at 12:59pm on the dot. I was carrying my baby and met with a closed door. I could see the worker sitting at the front desk and asked if I could just quickly pick up my dog's medicine. I asked about three times and each time the worker did not even bother getting up but simply screamed at me "I'm closed!" The office knew that I was arriving there to pick up medication and I was told to be there before 1:00pm and arrived at 12:59pm. I understand that it was last minute, but if I saw someone outside my office carrying a baby and know it's something quick, I would never shut someone out like that, even if it was after-hours. In addition, if there was a legitimate reason why she could no longer help me, the worker could have at least had the courtesy to greet me at the door rather than yelling at me from her chair behind the front desk. I have never had an issue here before but I was very upset at being treated with such a lack of courtesy and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAll of us here at Mayfair love working with animals. The reviews about dogs losing weight while they board are simply because the owner does not bring the dogs regular food and/or the dog is stressed/depressed from being away from home. I assure you, no one is starved. As for pets leaving with fleas that is something that just does not happen. When a pet is out of the home for a period of time then re-enters the fleas go crazy because they have had nothing to feed on. It takes 3 months to break a fleas life cycle. Our kennels are very large , covered, outdoor kennels. We also have indoor kennels for those who need them. No one is EVER left in the rain or freezing cold. If it is going to be cold we bring everyone inside. If it rains they have shelter from it. And as for the constant barking coming from the back, well, we board animals so yeah they are going to bark! I bring my own animals here and trust Dr. Peggy with them completely. We do our very best to keep it smelling and looking fresh in here. But sometimes pets have accidents and it can linger even after we clean and mop it. It is an animal hospital and sometimes animals smell. But we love them all just the same! Thank you to those who left postitve comments! It really means...
