my journey began by trading in 2 games for in store credit. the cashier gave me $29 on an “in store credit card,” and then let me know that he didn’t have super mario wonder in stock. ok, kind of annoying that he didn’t tell me that until AFTER i traded in my games, but no biggie. so who has it? he looks in his system and finds a few stores that have it. so can he just call them and have them hold it for me until i get there? no. he explains that “either they’re super busy, or they’re phones are down.” the phones are “down?” ok that’s kinda weird and doesn’t seem normal for a massive retail chain. this isn’t the post office here, this is a publicly traded company. ok so my only options are to drive to the stores that he claims have the game. there’s no guarantee they’ll actually have it when i get there, but i have no choice anymore because i already traded in my games for in store credit, which means i’m pot committed to buying the game at gamestop. so i drive to the first store, but they don’t have it. i drive to the 2nd store, but they don’t have it. so what gives? the cashier at the 2nd store says “oh yeah, our inventory system doesn’t really update and reflect availability accurately, so you really have to call ahead and have them hold it for you before you drive there.” unfortunately, that’s not an option because the stores i’m calling won’t pick up the phone. ok so finally i get through to this store on University blvd in Winter Park. the cashier says he has it in stock! and he’s going to hold it for me until i get there. i start to give him my name and information so he can hold the product for me - but he cuts me off and says “nah it’s ok man i’ll remember you, i gotchu.” ok…? that makes me a little nervous, but he’s the gamestop guy - he knows what he’s doing, he’s sold a game or 2. so i start driving to this store… it’s an hour away in bad traffic, so it’s a pretty annoying drive… but hey i’ve got no other options because i absolutely have to use the in-store credit. so i finally get to the store, and the cashier says she doesn’t have it anymore. she says they “shipped it away.” WHAT?! i explain that that’s not possible, because i literally just called like an hour and 15 minutes ago and had them hold it for me. there’s only two cashiers there, so i ask which one said he’d hold it for me? neither of them answer. so i ask again with a little more urgency and pressure. the 2nd cashier confesses “oh yeah… i was the one that said i’d hold it for you. but that was like an hour ago so i didn’t think you were coming.” he didn’t think i was coming. he. didn’t. think. i. was. coming. because it took me an hour. this one sentence has continued to befuddle me and shake my faith in the general competence of...
Read moreTerrible customer service. First walk into the store and the entire place smelled like weed. Doesn’t help that it’s next to a marijuana dispensary. AND, the store manager/associate was definitely high with tinted John Lennon glasses on.
Found the gaming headset we wanted with the price tag on the box as $99.99. When she rang it up, she charged us $119.99. She immediately started pulling off the price sticker. I mentioned that it was $99.99 and she said that it was a sale from Thanksgiving (over 4 weeks ago) and she couldn’t honor it. I mentioned that that would be false advertising, and it should be honored at the $99.99 price. I asked to speak with a manager and she said that would be her. She was calm, but not helpful AT ALL and had zero desire to give me the price that was literally stuck to the box!
We will never shop at this Game Stop again. After reading many other reviews, it sounds like this is the norm for...
Read moreWorst GameStop experience I’ve ever had in 15 years of gaming, “CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED” used to mean something but I guess GameStop doesn’t care about quality control anymore because when I got my $460 USED PS5 home to set it up no games would play it just kept crashing or freezing as soon as I would start a game. I called PlayStation support 2 nights in a row to troubleshoot and nothing worked.
Finally I go to return the item thinking they will at least give me a store credit for the inconvenience of selling me basically a $500 fire stick (assuming it would even run Netflix without crashing I didn’t try) the manager Rosa all but told me to kick rocks and the only thing she could do was give me another used PS5 with no guarantee it would actually work or a refund.
Worst customer service ever and didn’t help she was wearing a mask and sunglasses so the only apology I got was a few...
