This is a really good, fair shop and my experience is just as an accidental customer. I'm sorry if this gets to be a long review. A friend brought me into Mike's shop 7 years ago when he was buying a bow. He wanted to trade in an older bow and Mike was really fair with him by telling him that his old bow was a really good bow and he should just hang onto it because although it being a great bow, it was older and bow hunters look for the newest gear so he wouldn't be able to give him much money for it. My buddy just had to have a new bow anyway so Mike said, why don't you give it to your buddy and we will set up your new bow for you and your old bow for him (me). I was not and still don't claim to be a bow hunter, but Mike did such a great job setting up the bow for me that I really love shooting it at targets. He took an hour or so of his time to teach me and make sure the bow worked well for me even though I had no clue what I was doing. I really appreciate that type of service with an education.
A couple years later I was looking for a used beat up single shot .22 for cheap. Once again I talked to Mike and I was really surprised that he remembered me from setting up the old bow for me. Mike had a bunch of .22's exactly what I was looking for, cheap being the important part. He let me put 5 or 6 on the table and look at them for an uncomfortably long time without getting bored or frustrated with my nitpicking of multiple guns under $100. You can't really do that in most shops, but I told Mike what I was looking for and why and he just said "no problem, take your time." I picked out the gun, paid and was on my way.
Recently, I won a gun at an NRA dinner and was pleasantly surprised when I waa told that Sportsmans Outpost would handle the transfer. I picked up my prize and asked the guy helping me how many of these transfers did the shop do for winners of guns at the dinner. I was shocked when he said they did 70 or so of them. That really impressed me that Mike would volunteer to handle that many. These are all transfers where it takes time and chances are that the winners just pick up their gun and leave.
So, I guess the short version of my review is that If you want to deal with knowledgeable staff in a friendly shop where the owner goes the extra mile to support our rights and will take his time to educate you and not rush you out of the door, this is the shop with the owner you want. I will...
Read moreI was shopping for a hand gun I saw one that was listed as new and the price was the lowest I had seen. I was looking at the pictures they posted and I zoomed in on the gun then the tag that was attached to the gun. The tag was clearly mark Used. This makes me wonder how many other used guns the sold as new. UPDATE: 1/21 After I emailed them I went back to the auction website where they had the gun listed, it had been removed so I went to their website and nothing had changed the tag attached to the gun still said new, and the serial number was the same and the price was the same. Sir you earned the title lowlifes you did exactly what I suspected you would do, I kept pictures of everything from your listing to document it just incase you came back with that mistake BS. I stand by my review as 100% accurate no embellishing pure unadulterated fact. UPDATE 1/21 after posting the earlier 1/21 update I went to their website the gun is still listed as new and it still has the used box checked on the tag, serial number matches. So I guess when he said this doesn't happen very often didn't matter because when they were notified of it they didn't correct their mistake they left everything as is.Sir you earned less than a star the first time and now that you have had a chance to correct what you called a mistake and didn't change a thing you earn less than a star as a human.
Update, 2 months after this review was posted the tag on the gun had not been corrected. Sir I don’t think you want to talk to me on the phone again and definitely not in person. If I do happen to get to Connecticut you can bet I’ll stop in and give you a great big California hello. I am updating this to let you know that in the last year I have had over 1200 views so Im sure 1 or 2 of those went elsewhere to buy which makes me feel good. It’s hard to believe your still in business but gun enthusiasts were buying ammo from any one they could even price gougers at...
Read moreBought my first firearm back here in 2006 and have been coming back ever since. Prices are decent, customer service is fantastic. Nice selection of arms and everything else you’d need to maintain them. Never had a bad experience here 08/22/2025- stopped in to see if they had a smith on duty to change out a gas bushing on a rifle. Mike, the owner of this fine establishment, helped me out and hooked me up with the Allen wrench I needed and explained in detail how to do the swap myself as they didn’t have a smith there. Also wanted to add that this is a cool “old school” firearm shop. He has an assortment of ammo, factory new and some made years ago, as evidenced by the old packaging. Just lots of neat things in this shop like bandoliers and oddball cartridges that aren’t too mainstream. Most firearm shops around here have just “new” products on the floor. Also Picked up some ammo as well, good price on some Fiocchi 00 buck, currently $14 for a box of 25 rounds. Also had a decent price for 3” 15 pellet magnum 00...
