I visited evergreen in December 2023. It's August 2024 now and I'm writing this review because my experience here was so horrible I still think about it from time to time. December was my second visit. The first time my girlfriend and I just walked around amazed at the collection of interesting things. And their goods are very interesting and well presented, I will give them that. They were so interesting that in December of 2023 I decided I was going to do my Christmas shopping at evergreen. I found lots of cool stuff I picked up several comic books, a tiara, a handmade journal, and a couple of signed collectibles included signed photos sports memorabilia from the eagles and flyers as well as several figurines.
If you haven't been to evergreen, it's set up as a sequence of booths of similar theme. There are two main aisles and a back room so you can walk through the store in one big loop. It is very orderly and well arranged.
My first 10 minutes in the store we picked up a salt shaker set and a few comic books. It was at this point that the first employee asked if she could hold our items at the front. I get it. Prevent shrinkage. Whatever excuse you want to give. But notice I said first.
We moved to the back room because I had seen a tiara that I knew would work great for my mom the last time we were there.
We rounded the corner and I was so happy to see a display case with signed sports memorabilia. I picked out a signed eagles mini helmet and my girlfriend picked out a signed flyers photo and figurine. The employee unlocked the case and took the items directly to the front.
I felt uneasy about it, because just give me my things, but hey a store can do whatever they want with their valuables. So I said ok.
As we followed the natural progression of the store, moving up the second aisle I was struck by all the classic comic gear in one of the booths, and I picked a few choice comics for myself. Thats when the third employee asked if she could take our stuff to the front to "take it off our hands so we could grab more". Well we had four hands and only three of them had items ( comic books stack pretty thin) so I told her I thought we would be ok. She was insistent, but at this point I felt a little insulted so I said firmly, no.
We got to the register after looking through the final few booths. There were no other customers at the register so we had the undivided attention of all three cashier's. Two of them were the women who asked to take our stuff up front.
We placed our treasures on the counter and I asked for the signed sports memorabilia the man had taken to the front.
They couldn't find it. I pointed at the helmet I could clearly see from the customer side of the counter and they said they had to ask the male employee. My frustration grows, but I'm not the type to show when I'm upset or take it out on others.
The man comes to the front and confirms that the items I asked her to purchase at the front of the store are the items that I asked him to purchase at the back of the store. Fine.
She starts to ring up my comic books, each the same exact price as the last because they were all from the same 2 dollar comic book rack. One of them did not have a price tag and she said I couldn't buy it. I tell her that it's from the same section as the others. It even from the same series as the ones I have falling sequentially in between two with the little paper price tag on a string. She persists and will not let me buy it at any price. Ok I have 10 other comics I'll get over it. At this point I just want to leave. We've been at the register for several minutes and there's now a line behind us. I swipe my card grab my receipt, put my head down and hurry to the car.
As I'm packing my things I notice that my receipt is way more expensive than I expected. She charged me twice for the sports memorabilia the most expensive items.
We went back inside waited in line and asked for a correction which took several minutes because they don't do returns. I said that this wasn't a return I was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been there several times but when we went there on Saturday, the staff was obnoxious , rude, and ignorant. We had picked three items we wanted to buy. The first was a cookie jar for $40, we asked for a discount and she rudely said she had to put it into the computer first. Then she rolled her eyes and said they donāt give 15% but could take 10% off. Next item was $12 . She then said she couldnāt take anything off that because it has to be over$20? Third item was when things got really rude. A lampshade priced at $22 . She continued to tell us there was no discount on that. She had just told us the item had to be over$20? After that she proceeded to get argumentative. She told us to talk to the manager but he was busy talking to someone else. Finally he came over and started arguing with my husband, talking over us. My husband told him to shut the hell up and let him talk. He just keep talking over us . He then threatened to call the police? What horrible customer service. So we put our money back in our pocket and told them we didnāt want any of it. He replied ānone of it!ā and then told us to leave and never come back. We feel bad for the vendors who lost the sales because these people were so rude and very nasty. Thatās no way to run a business!! Shouting and arguing with a...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePretty decent sized antique store. Iāve gone a handful of times. Iāve only gotten two things but I think just looking at the stuff is fun. The reason itās only 4 stars instead of 3 is the store doesnāt see much movement in items. Iāve seen stuff from 2024 still sitting with the same exact price on it and hardly any new antiques in some booths. Pricing itself has more to do with each vendors stall. Iāve bought a moon mortar and pestle and a gypsum sphynx and both were pretty fair priced. However other items have caught my eye but the price will be way over market value. Itās like most antiques/2nd Hand. You got to look for the gems.
Pros: -Variety of stores -Large selection -Laid back environment -Area to hold finds while youāre looking around
Cons: -Not many new items come in for long periods of time. -Some booths charge way over value.
Accessibility: Handicap Parking: Yes Wheelchair Ramps: N/A Power Doors: No Parking: Lot Parking Stairs/Elevator: One Floor
Notes: 3% + Credit/Debit fee so pay cash!
Overall: Itās nice to go to every once and awhile. Often I go just to see the beautiful antiques.
