The most notable thing about this location is the staff. They're friendly and helpful every time we've been in. They're fairly knowledgeable about the products they have on offer, and if an employee doesn't know the answer, they're never afraid to admit it, and have frequently looked up information when they don't know the answer off-hand.
While I love the staff here, it is your standard big box craft store. They have a wide variety of things, but sometimes their selection isn't the best. Recently they started carrying some things that don't make the most sense, like supplies for sewing, but no actual fabric. This isn't the most logical, as it would mean multiple stops for a sewing project, but does make it convenient if you just need to pop in and buy some pins or tailoring chalk. Their selection on other items, like ribbons, is fairly small, and their yarns tend to be lower quality and with a large amount of acrylic. However, I've had excellent luck with all things embroidery, and in other crafts, like painting and paper crafts, their selection is quite good. They have ample projects for kids crafts as well, with more options than all of the other craft stores I've visited. They also generally have a great selection of seasonal decorative and craft items, and unlike other stores, don't practically erase American favorites, like Halloween and Thanksgiving/fall harvest.
It helps when going there to consider their primary focuses on crafts, and understand where they shine. Yarn stores are a much better option for knitting and crochet, but Michael's nails it on embroidery. Sewing isn't really represented here, but paper crafts have tons of options, as well as age old traditional arts, such as painting and drawing. Their selection for Cricut products is one of the best we've found in store, and their kids crafts options are fantastic. If you're shopping for projects in the items they do well with, this is a good first stop, but for knitting, crochet, quilting, or sewing, you're likely not going to find good...
Read moreThe ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I wanted buttons! I have them after they were hidden with a fake wall and I walk around the store 12 times after I found them with a small amount of time to spare a child young enough to be my daughter tells me to wrap it up wrap it up …….excuse me ?????????who talks to customers that way ???? and instead of her manager apologizing for it he comes right behind her immediately and says, can you get what you’re gonna get and move along we’re trying to close up.!! I have absolutely never been treated this way at Michael’s how I miss Hobby lobby and the southern hospitality I will never return to the store I would rather order online from a store with Christian values and knows how to treat your customers like Hobby lobby and I suggest you do the same if you want good service do not go to Michael’s on Lincoln Street they treat you like garbage the only time they offer to help is to hurry and get you out of the store so they can close on time any other time I left wandering around Angus Lea trying to find something on your messy shelves I’m sick of it I’m sick of...
Read moreI brought in a large picture that I wanted to have framed. Steve went above and beyond to make sure it was done perfectly. His eye for what looks great was just what I needed. He took into account not just the colors but also the content of the picture to offer several options that I hadn't considered. The frame was done and ready to pick up sooner than expected. They called me to let me know it was ready. Another associate, Chris, unwrapped my framed artwork to show it to me, rewrapped it once I looked it over, and then he even carried it out to my car for me! I had my reservations about having the work done here instead of an actual framing store, but was impressed with their professionalism and with the results. I highly recommend Michael's and their wonderful staff for any framing project...
