My friend and I stopped in as we spontaneously spoke about wanting coffee - and I had recalled seeing Brooks Books post on social media about having a mini cafe. Having never been inside, we decided to stop in to explore.
And what a cozy, quaint, quiet, clean spot to spend time relaxing or reading! Currently, it’s decorated so tastefully with an enchanting and playful Halloween theme. In the back corner, a pop-up co-shared coffee corner offers multiple options for refreshing and sweet coffee drinks. Sarah was at the time staffing her shop “Novel Brews” which offers deliciously and thoughtfully crafted coffee drinks on Wednesdays and Fridays. Read moreSuch a vibe. This book store is everything you could possibly want from a local bookshop (It's cozy, and so not commercialized.) There's a good middle grade selection and YA and there are special interest books great for gifts too. The vibe is super friendly and mellow. Everything I've come to love about shopping local sort of collides here. I honestly didn't...

Being a small, independent store I hoped they would understand how hard is for an independent author to make his/her work known. To my surprise I was brushed off right away, not even being asked what books where those or given the opportunity to show them. My sadness is even greater because I live in Wyandotte and I shopped from Brooks Books in the past trying to support a local business. Too bad they would not support a local...
