I performed the ceremony for my daughter's wedding in August 2005. I believe we were the first to use the York Wedding Chapel (formerly York Funeral Home) for a wedding. We had to do EVERYTHING. There was NO ONE there to help out. We, including the bride and groom had to get chairs and place them AND put them all away afterwards. We rented the décor and placed it in addition to ALL of any décor having anything to do with a wedding. There was NO AIR CONDITION, except on the first floor. The upper floor where everyone in the wedding had to get ready was so hot, my daughter nearly fainted, as well as the others felt sick due to the extreme heat. The reception was held in the only space available - the kitchen! It was catered and there was also NO ONE to help with setting things up for that. My family had to rush around preparing EVERYTHING, in addition to getting dressed, hair, make-up, etc. in the terrible heat upstairs. I will NEVER recommend the York Wedding Chapel to anyone and hopefully any bride and groom who decide to use it are prepared to do ALL the work themselves also their wedding will NOT be in the summer months! And there was little to NO parking area for the family and guests. Also, the cost was ridiculous considering the facility and lack of anyone employed there to help out. BEWARE of the York Wedding Chapel, aka York...
Read moreLocated in the old Latta House in York SC (circa 1824), this facility is an incredible place for a small intimate wedding. My daughter had her wedding and reception here. Many photos show not only the bride and groom, but also many priceless antiques. Although the facility is in need of minor repairs, the kitchen is usable for catering prep. We used the small "chapel" where the bride and groom were in front of a fireplace. The reception area again had a fireplace and cabinet displaying many antique figurines.
Kelly was excellent. She met with us at the last minute when our preferred venue cancelled. She worked with us to help make everything wonderful. She brought in a Christian minister at our request, and worked as the wedding planner to keep everything moving along.
I highly recommend the York Wedding Chapel for your wedding, whether a small intimate wedding inside or during beautiful weather, a larger wedding outside in their...
Read moreYork Wedding Chapel is such a charming and photogenic venue. As a wedding photographer, I love shooting here because the space offers a beautiful blend of classic chapel elegance and soft natural light that makes portraits look timeless. The white interior, the tall windows, and the intimate layout all create a clean, romantic backdrop that photographs incredibly well.
The surrounding grounds are also great for portraits — plenty of spots with greenery, soft light, and quiet corners perfect for couples who want a peaceful moment together. The staff is always kind and organized, which makes the day flow smoothly for everyone involved.
