My wife and I finally had a chance to do some shopping in downtown York today. We have been wanting to check out some stores for a while. After shopping we stopped in, to grab a coffee and some pastries. We told the lady this is our first time coming in. She gave us a wrinkled menu and said I'm gonna do some stuff & let me know when your ready. We'll when we decided what we wanted she took our order as if it was the last thing she wanted to do. She started making the caramel macchiato & the other lady ask what our order was. After we told her, she went to the lady that took our order and asked what she was doing. She said unkindly to the co-worker. I'm making the caramel macchiato, so the other worker said well I'll get their pastries. This lady was nice. The lady that took our order, not so nice. My wife reached up to grab the pastries after the nice worker set them on the counter. Then the lady that took our order gave my wife the caramel macchiato and said just couldn't wait could you. My wife & I completely shocked, left the café. So being a York citizen my whole life my respect is to small businesses trying to make it. I have a want for York small businesses to succeed. I rate 4 stars, because the caramel macchiato and pastries were good & there are some good people that work there. Not going to let one unkind worker ruin that. Owner, I suggest you run your business with employees who care as much as you & if they can't do that for you. Let them go! Build for success and be a great business in York. (If for some reason the unkind person is the owner. Maybe rethink...
Read moreSouthern Touch Bakery has an amazingly warm and cozy atmosphere that gives exudes a mix of old-time charm and peaceful café. In some ways the interior is reminiscent of an old tavern and would make an excellent point of interest for a town of York scavenger hunt.
The service was phenomenal with friendly, approachable, and attentive staff that made the entire experience that much better.
And of course the food:
I had ordered a breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, sausage, a hashbrown patty, and wheat toast. As well as a large mint chocolate milkshake.
My wife ordered a chicken tender plate with fries and a diet Dr Pepper.
Happy to report that everything was cooked perfectly, so much so, that I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a sausage patty so evenly cooked and simply perfect. The toast was well buttered and the eggs had an omelette-crisp outside with a soft-scrambled inside making an outstanding platter.
My wife’s chicken was crispy and tender, as one would hope their crispy chicken tenders should be, and the fries were soft and puffy on the inside with a tantalizing bite on the outside.
The drinks, when ordered dine in, come in cute handled-jars which also added to the cozy atmosphere.
I will definitely be returning with friends and family when I want to show them a restaurant that makes York...
Read moreWent for the first time last weekend and the iced lattes were so good!! Breakfast was great and the cinnamon roll was amazing. My husband and I went again today and went through the drive through this time. We got the same coffees as last weekend and they were so gross!! The bottom of our cups were full of coffee grounds and they tasted so stale and bitter with no flavored syrups which make them unable to drink. We paid $7 for each coffee. Asked the girl at the window for a cinnamon roll and she said they didn’t have any. Disappointing but whatever. Then I went inside a few minutes after getting our food to ask for more milk in my coffee (I was still trying to salvage it at this point) and there were 4 cinnamon rolls in the bakery case!! I told the lady at the front the girl at the window said you were out. She said they must have just been put out in the case…The food here is really good although a little overpriced. I’m scared to ever order another...
