Fun to browse and shop for high quality and unique items. The booths are well done and the vendors are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! We bought handmade jewelry and gifts. And lots of food items to take home. My favorite booth is Happy Honey Bee Co. I bought 100% pure local raw honey, and bee pollen(a super food loaded with good stuff like antioxidants, flavinoids, nutrients, amino acids and other good stuff. We also bought 100% bees wax candles (healthier to burn and longer lasting than other kinds of candles), soaps and lotions. Another favorite booth is the popcorn guy from Hubbard. Jason's Popcorn, he has lots of varieties of homemade carmel and cheese popcorn, that are the best I've ever tasted! He makes them and he has discovered popcorn that pops up with biggest popped kernels( the huge mushroom kernel and the huge butterfly kernel). And his prices are less than bags of carmel corn at Marc's! The food trucks at the Youngstown Flea offer fabulous eating! We tried The Big Green Truck for vegetarian options. The "green fries"(asparagus), the grilled cheese sandwiches , and the salads were all very good. We also loved the different but very tasty food truck selling Louisiana Low County dishes, jumbalia, gumbo, lobster mac and cheese. I had the crab cakes, and they were the best I've ever had! Could see big chucks of 2 types of crab. Delicious! So, The Youngstown Flea makes for a fun outing,...
Read moreGreat concept, but not ran very well. Seems like there's a lot of penny wise & pound foolish decisions being made. Who the hell doesn't turn on the heat when it's 50° and raining outside?
Not only that, but a lot of the vendors were in this like back room that somebody mentioned otherwise I wouldn't even have thought to go back there - and only half the lights were turned on. I'm not sure why you wouldn't mix vendors so you generate foot traffic for everyone? On top of all that, it was filthy. Like, the walls behind the stands still had factory dirt on them so I guess the owner doesn't have a hose?
What's the point in putting out all your propane heaters if you're not going to turn them on 🙄 but something tells me that's another cut in the O&M budget in favor of profit. The place still has its big infrared heaters I don't understand why those wouldn't be fired up.
So yeah, fix the heat, turn the lights on, clean the place up, paint it, and mix up who is staged where and it could be a...
Read moreA really great place to visit -- I wish they held it more often than once a month! In case you're not familiar with Youngstown Flea, it's not a flea market in the traditional sense at all (i.e., vendors selling dirty old junk from their basement and used dvds and bulk quantities of cheap shampoo). Instead, it's more like a modern day craft show for hipsters. Local artists and craftsman are selling their work, everything from beard oils to Youngstown themed t shirts to really delicious jerky. (They have a complete list of vendors on their website.) I didn't get a chance to try out the food trucks, but I look forward to giving them a...
