It wasn't bad but honestly I feel it could have been a little better. I just moved to this area and I figured with it being a some what bigger city there would be more to do on the 4th of July but I was wrong. Not saying it wasn't nice but the fireworks started really late, they said at sundown/dark but they didn't start until 10:30pm that lasted maybe 20-30mins. And they only had a few food trucks. I had to walk down there twice that day to take my son to watch fireworks.. the first time because I figured they would have had more stuff to keep us busy then what they did so then I walked the 30mins back home just to hurry and walk back down there 30-40mins later around because I didn't want to miss fireworks that were supposed to start at dark but didn't start until 10:30pm. This was my sons first 4th of July and I just felt like it could have been a little better. I thought that they would have more stuff like Newtonfalls, OH has...rides, games, tons of different food, and fireworks that last longer then 30mins. So I think next year I will take him to newtonfalls where we can really go and spend some time and enjoy it followed by fireworks. I think that's what they need to get around here is stuff to do other then just food trucks or days like the 4th of July. (I'm not saying this is all they had this day... my point is they didn't have many options that were within distance for me to go to.. most of the family oriented stuff was to far for me to get to without transportation that would have been...
Read moreWe sat in Section 105 Row C. We couldn't see the piano player on the far left, due to speakers, but overall excellent seats. Parking was close and reasonable ( we parked across the street for $10) Vendor prices were as expected, $5 for a bottle of water, but it was cold. Only two things we noticed that could be improved upon. The seats were zip tied together and it was uncomfortable. Our row only had 4 people in it, but I can't imagine how suffocating it must have been in the center section that had seat after seat after seat. Second suggestion, I understand the size restrictions on the allowable seats for the lawn section, however, there was a gentleman who was very large in stature (over 6'4', easily) and he obviously needed a larger chair. They wouldn't allow him to bring in a chair to fit his proportions. I'm not sure what the solution would be, but it something that needs to be thought out. We really appreciated that Security didn't allow people to come and stand in front of us and block our view and they also did not allow smoking in the seats and we saw them approach several people and ask them to put out their cigarettes. It's nice to have such a good venue in our area. We hope that over time it will encourage more restaurants and such to come into the area and that it will build business for those currently there. We're looking forward to...
Read moreSecurity didn't scan everyone, didn't check purses, etc. Certain types of chairs weren't allowed & people were allowed to come in with them anyway. The rules were clearly not adhered to at all. Concessions & drinks way too expensive. Concert didn't start on time. Parking prices were outrageous seeing that the roads were all messed up due to construction. Parking vendors took advantage of this & should have been unacceptable because of construction. The last 2 Black entertainment events to come to Youngstown in the past 2 months( Katt Williams Comedy Tour & the Cameo Concert) had to endure construction issues with no other black entertainment artists scheduled the rest of the summer as far as I know. There are a few White artists scheduled to perform either at the valley or the amphitheater later this summer. More than likely the construction will be completed by then and event attendees will probably do I have to contend with these parking issues. I am not saying it is racially motivated but it is quite coincidental that when certain events come to town, are canceled like the Pride parade due to construction but others are not like the simply Slovak festival?I'm just saying. Fair is fair & right is right & every situation & event should be handled accordingly for the fun & safety of...
