I've been waiting for a place like this to come to the area for awhile now and I can say the wait was certainly worth it. Whistle and Keg is the new "serve yourself" craft brew station that provides a larger selection of beers by cutting out costs of serving. I have experienced bars like this in other major cities and the execution of this place is spot on. The beers are plentiful, the process is painless, and the crowd is definitely into it. This is a fun place to be but is most fun when visited with friends as the seating kind of forces it since there is no bar top. Still, if you are alone, don't hesitate to visit as you could spend hours just walking down the tap line reading and enjoying as much or as little as you'd like.

First of all this pub works differently, which was great for me. It's a serve yourself. After taking your credit card they give you an electronic wrist band. Then from the multitude of taps you draw your size pour charging you by the ounce. This gives a patron flexibility with testing and drinking. The seating area inside is a good atmosphere and outside is shady in the afternoon. Fantastic place to go after work.

The atmosphere here is great. Besides the taps, they have yard Jenga, large connect four, checkers, and other games. The concept behind pay for what you drink is great. I wish there was a place like this for food. The only downside is that they don't have a kitchen, but you can bring your own food. I definitely recommend that you try out Whistle & Keg.

I went to this establishment for an event that has been plugged for weeks about photography and social media. Well when I arrived I was informed that the event planner wasn't going to make it. I talked with the person who was to speak at the event and he apologized but he had been trying to get ahold of the planner, who happens to either own or manage the establishment, but she never answered his calls or texts. He actually had to ask the one employee working if she was coming in. Said employee (who wasn't very friendly or helpful) got ahold of her and said she wasn't coming. Needless to say the management of this place is questionable and staff personalities aren't very inviting. I will not spend another dime in this hole...

This place is probably the most unique bar I have ever experienced. With self serve, and a long line of taps, you should be a very happy camper, especially if you enjoy craft beer. Just keep in mind that this is not a place to go and have dinner, it is a place to go to relax and drink after dinner. That would probably be the only criticism I have, is to expand on food, but that's not a problem. Small place with a neat atmosphere embracing the industrial history of Youngstown, the whistle that blows at 12 and 4 everyday is really cool, and working downtown, perks my ears up and gets me ready to have lunch or end my workday.

Try...
