Bad Atmosphere, Bad service, terribly disappointed. All I had ever heard was good things about V2 so I took my fiancee here on a date. We got there and the host was very dismissive. He sat us down and we could hardly hear over the music and people talking. The restaurant was less than half capacity. We barely saw our servers the whole time and when we did they were not friendly or nice whatsoever. We got food, I ordered a pizza for $13, it was plate sized and it barely had any sauce on it. I can go across the street to Avalon and get a delicious large pizza for a couple dollars more. My fiancee got the chicken parmesan and it was drowning in sauce. The sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee spaghetti O's, so if you like that go for it for $16. Overall food was the worst I've had in all of Youngstown. Our servers did the bare minimum and were preoccupied watching the basketball game on one of their many tvs. Also an epilepsy warning for this restaurant, every light was either flashing and changing different colors or were flickering. They had a bunch of beers on tap, we were not told what was available however and were not given a drinks menu other than the wines listed on the menu. Also they are trying to charge $18 for 8 chicken wings, this is a pathetic excuse for a nice restaurant. I recommend MVR, The Federal (next door), or Avalon Downtown (across the street). Literally eat...
Read moreFirst timer. I hate to say it but my experience was sub-par to say the least. Friday night after work me and the guys decide to go downtown and grab a bite to eat. It was about 8:30ish so I asked the hostess if we could get some food, she said yes and gave us a table. We ordered drinks and some appetizers. Two orders of crab cakes and an order of onion rings. They were cold. We didn't get silverware or napkins. I had to go ask for them. When the server brought the apps he said the kitchen is closing if you want food you have to order now. I should have saw the sign and just left. I didn't . I ordered a chicken and greens sandwich. It was hot but I'm pretty sure the chicken had been cooked and recooked, possibly more than once. It was so dry and tough that I couldn't pull it a part with my fingers. I didn't eat it and it was taken off my bill. When all was said and done I paid $30, bill and tip for a coke and one cold crab cake. I'll never go there again. Not because of the poor food quality but because after I sent it back the only one who I saw was the 20 something server who simply said "this had nothing to do with me it's the cooks". Nobody with any supervisory role bothered to come to our table and even try to make it right. They let me leave hungry and...
Read moreMy wife and I made a last minute decision to eat dinner at the V2 Wine Bar. The restaurant was very nice. Warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and responsive. Food and drinks were great. One Our dinner was early; at 5 pm, in advance of an evening concert at the Youngstown Amphitheater. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer. When asked, our server, Shelby, said there were on the smaller size. They were really good. Had a mild spice to them, which I like. My wife ordered the meatball melt, which she raves about. I had the shrimp scampi, a special for the evening. The scampi was fresh and good but could have used a little more garlic. I would order it again. My wife also ordered a lemontini and followed that with a pomegranate martini. I had a Makers and coke. The drinks were all really good. The only detractor was the NOISE. IT WAS REALLY LOUD. Not a little loud…. A lot loud… to the extent that as soon as our dinner was complete, we couldn’t wait to get out. It was good but the noise was nearly unbearable. We were seated in the front by the front door. It might be more tolerable in one of the back rooms. Our bill was $95 which I consider very reasonable for the food and...
