I go shopping at Annam Market almost every day. That being said, what annoys me every day is this: look around Annam Market. Almost everything is packaged in plastic, high tech plastics or high tech compound aluminum/plastics. And in front of Annam Market they put this giant machine full of high tech materials that will NEVER make up its environmental footprint in recycling materials. Furthermore, 50% (half) of the world’s plastic comes from fishing nets, and 30% of micro plastics from car tires. Yet, on check-out at Annam Market, no matter how much money you spend, they refuse to give you a simple, environmentally-degradable plastic bag for convenience, just to annoy you. That’s entirely the wrong place to create environmental awareness. Instead, they want to sell you a huge, thick paper bag. But this is just making things worse. For example, according to a 2005 life-cycle analysis commissioned by the Scottish government, manufacturing paper bags consumes 10 percent more energy than manufacturing conventional plastic bags, uses four times more water, emits more than three times the amount of greenhouse gases, and generates 14 times more water pollution compared to plastic bags. Please reconsider...
Read moreHAZARD ALERT!!!! To all the community of An Phu and Thảo Điền please beware of Annam Gourmet Q2. Today I bought chicken breast in the meat section on the second floor. When I got home and started cutting the chicken, I could smell the characteristic smell of decaying meat. One of the breast color was greenish. I immediately came back to the store and asked for the manager. I was informed that he was out that day, but the person I asked said she could help me. I explained what had happened, reporting that it was the second time the same thing had happened to me in the store. She took the chicken and came back telling me that they would return my money and that they were going to talk to the supplier. At no time was there any attempt to apologize for what happened, but the worrying thing is that instead of removing and checking if all the chicken was in good condition, they only tried to blame the supplier, even though it is the second time that this has happened and the first time It was with another brand. If anyone bought chicken or any other meat at the store on the weekend of September 9th and 10th, please be alert for symptoms...
Read moreSat in their cafe 10 minutes waiting for menu, waved at 3 different employees who just sat around and did nothing. Went across the street to Tartine and was helped immediately. Such a mismanaged business.
Update: Today they had only one cashier handling a long line of customers, taking care of cafe payments, and dealing with delivery people. Meanwhile other employees just wandering around getting in the way like usual. Also had almost none of their own bread which is one of the only reasons I come here anymore. After today I'm just avoiding the place.
This business is a case study in mismanagement, there is an obvious problem every time I visit, and employees are rude with obvious low morale. Employees are more friendly at GS25. IMO there is a great opportunity in this niche for a competitor to...
